I have Lt265/75/16 tires on a 16x7 wheel with 0 offset and 4” backspacing. I’m going to put this on my stock 3rd gen tacoma. When I ordered this custom offset told me I’d need 10mm wheel spacers in the front to clear the calipers. Is this true? I’ve seen some people in other forums that ran similar sized tires and had no problems.

Backspace is most likely not the problem, but wheel spoke interference.
Backspace clears the rim and tire from the uca/suspension...
They're recommending a 10mm spacer to get the spokes away from the caliper.
16x7 ET 0...sounds like maybe a steel wheel?
I suggest finding a 16x8 ET 0 with a spoke design that clears.

What wheels did you order? Many people here running 0 offset 16" wheels with no caliper interference issues

16x7 ET 0 sounds like a steel wheel to me...they typically run into caliper clearance issues.

Lets be a little clearer on some terminology. You are talking about wheels, not rims. The rim is part of the wheel. Offset is determined by the position of the rim in regards to where it sits on the bolt face. This is pretty irrelevant in terms of what will hit the caliper. You could have -20 or +20 offset and still have the spokes hit the caliper depending on the design of the wheel. A spacer will push the bolt face away from the hub giving you additional clearance. Adding a spacer doesn't change the offset of the wheel, but it will push the wheel further out. When you do this it also changes other angles and will increase the chances of it rubbing.

The best solution is to buy wheels that fit. Spacers are a bad idea.

Okay. Wheels are already bought, They arrived over a week ago. And they are steel. They just happen to be Vision soft 8. Which I learned later last night have issues with the calipers. I will be running the recommended wheel spacers to help. I would return and figure out the issue. But I would spend a lot more money with that process.

Personally I wouldn't go the spacer route. Get the right rim, keep your reliability up there!

That’s a tough spot, if you can, spend the extra money to return them and get new wheels with the proper offset and clearance. I know that’s probably not what you want to hear but it’s going to be the general consensus on here.

If you’re going to risk it and run spacers, locktite the nuts and you’ll need to take the wheel off and check the torque regularly. At minimum once a month, like clockwork. They are trying to kill you.

Most tire shops won’t mess with it if you have spacers either, something else to consider, unless you have a guy sort of thing.

Spacers on hub centric alloy wheels are bad. Spacers on non hub centric steel wheels are terrifying.

    pretty much everything

Agreed, we are talking about wheels here. :)

I wish the OP luck on a resolution to the problem.

    At 10mm, I bet it's just a plate-type spacer. I don't think it's going to have enough stud length.

Agreed and since the lip of the hub is about 10mm the wheels are going to be hanging 100% on the studs. Not exactly what they were designed for. It is a recipe for disaster.
