    New Hancook Tires JUNE 2020
Hi everyone I wanted to know if it is dangerous to drive this truck with the tire sensor light on.I just put new Hancook tires on my 2014 Toyota Tacoma Prerunner in June. Then I took the truck for trip from SC to Maryland. No problem. Then half way home the tire sensor light starts blinking then turning solid every time I stopped and started the car. I called Toyota told them they said sensor not connecting to some system. It still blinks then goes solid every time I drive it.

A tire pressure gauge will tell if it's safe to drive. Sometimes you just have to go old school.

How much pressure. The tag on door says 30 psi but they run hard at that rate so I inflated them to 33 they feel a little better but still feels bumpy.

Overpressure = rough ride and uneven wear. I run recommend PSI on roads.
Drop to 12 PSI on sand.

Not if the tires are all the correct pressure. The light can tell you when you have a tire problem, or it can be a false positive if the system has a problem.

Inflating them more makes them harder. Drop to 30 and perform a chalk test, adjust (if needed) 1 lb at a time till test is passed. Google 'chalk test treadwear' for a how to

Your sensors are 7 model years old, and 6-7 real years old. About time for the batteries to fail. New sensors at the time of install would have been practical.

However, as said, maintain your tires manually as was done for decades and ignore the light till you are ready to deal with it.

Blinking tire light that then goes solid usually means a bad sensor

If I were buying new tires for a 7 year old truck I'd have bought new sensors beforehand and had them installed with the tires. Most any shop won't charge any extra at that time. To do it later will usually run $15-$20 per tire to install them. You can pick up new ones on Amazon for $20-$25 each.

Normal life span is 6-7 years, but 10 years isn't unusual. My 13 year old truck still has working sensors, but I know they will fail any day now.
