I purchased a new set of Toyo Open Country AT/II for a 2014 Tacoma Limited. Prior to this I had Continental CrossContacts. They are the same size (265/65R18) but the new ones obviously have a beefier tread. With extreme turning to the left, the right front tire rubs against the splash plate. It never did this with the prior tires or the ones that came with the truck. It's the standard plate; I think this is it: https://toyotapartsestore.com/2014-...splash_shields-splash_shield_5140504010-item/

When I look at the plate, the passenger side flares out more horizontally where the driver side goes up more vertically. It doesn't look like it was bent but I'm wondering if that's the case since I would expect it to be a symmetric plate, but I can't tell that from the diagram on the parts sites. Does anyone know or have a similar Tacoma and can take a look? I thought about just bending it inward on the right side to get it away from the tire.

    Thanks.

I decided to go ahead and bend that passenger side up, making sort of a flange, and it doesn’t rub anymore, but I’m still curious as to whether the splash shield was supposed to be symmetric or intentionally extends more horizontally on the passenger side. I’ve attached some photos of how it looks (the vertical bend/flange is what I just did to move it away from the tire).01D58714-FC89-44C2-9567-0D21B48D9185.jpgADA256E8-48E3-45B7-A16D-B053CA612964.jpg13469A9B-79C5-4217-8ABF-672D7A7C6E89.jpg9E13F2DC-8F01-4399-938B-0140014FE5C0.jpg
