I had some 31 inch mudkings on my 99 model. A very small amount of rubbing on the front fender was the only problem i had.

My 99 taco had 265/75r15s stock and 31s are just about the same size. Had 31" km2s on my truck when I needed new tires, but my truck got higher and the tires got bigger.

In spite of the 31 in the name, a 31/10.5/15 tire is typically about 30.5 inches tall. If you are using the stock offset (15 mm) Tacoma wheels, this size will fit very nicely (with no rubbing) on an unlifted Tacoma.

The same size tire measured metrically for the 16" stock wheels is 265/70/16.
