I have a 1.5" spacer lift that came on the truck when I bought it. My Billy's arrived yesterday and I'm going to set them to 1.75" and ditch the spacer finally. I have 285/70/16 duratrac on 4.5" BS rims.

You will need either wheel spacers or new rims with 4.5 backspacing to run those tires. And you will have to trim a fair bit of plastic. You can get away without chopping the cab mounts, but if you go offroad you'll want to do that too. I'm planning on doing it soon.

I was really on the fence about what size to get. It took me a long time to decide. But now that I've got 285s and I've done the trim job I am really glad I got what I did. And honestly, it's not a big deal to trim if you have an angle grinder. Cuts like butter. And my truck looks awesome now (in my opinion, which is the only one that matters in this instance).

The cool thing about the Goodyear Duratracs is that they run a little but larger...as do some other tire companies (Nitto, Toyo etc...) Cortland on here has 265/75/16 Duratracs and I have 265/75/16 Hankook Dyna Pro A/Ts...His are noticeably bigger. I don't wheel THAT much but I love the look of 285s...I've checked on a 285/70/16 but only a few tire companies make em and their WAAAYYYYY expensive. I'm gonna be upgrading my lift soon and really wanted the 285s...hell, I even got my cab mounts chopped and everything, but I think i'm just gonna get a more aggressive 265/75/16...Like the Duratracs...But who knows! I change my mind on shit so much lol...good luck with your decision bud

Can you get them online and shipped to you from the states ? The Canadian dollar is at .99 USD . I just bought something in the states for $850 USD and it cost me $ 857 CDN .

My bro just put 285's on his taco. They look great and off road even better than the 265 75. Just need some slight trimming and run wheel spacers up front for stock rims

Edit: you don't have a lift, you'll like the 265/75/16. 285'2 Go well once you have a 3" lift.

I am in same situation(as O.P.) regarding what tire size to get. I have a 2.5" spacer in the front and a spacer in the rear along with the TSB performed. When I bought my 16" x 8" wheels from Discount Tire they test fitted a 285/75/16 (Nitto Terra Grappler) just so i could see how it would fit when I was ready to buy tires and it hit the fender well in the front so some cutting was going to be required.

Then I found out that Nitto makes a Trail Grappler in a 285/70/16, they are about the only company I have found that makes a tire in that size and it is in between my 265/75/16 and a 285/75/16. They quoted me about $248 a tire and that not including mounting, balancing and all the other shit they add on.

I have 265/75/16's Toyo Mt tires.
I am thinking about switching over to the 285/75/16's but instead go with the Km2 tires. I was shocked to find that the 285 Km2 tires are the same price at the Toyo tires.=/ Heck should I just buy the Toyo tires again or go with something different?

    bone stock for now
i am in this with everyone else torn between 265 or 285 i am just a pre-runner. i have 5100's @ .85 and eibachs in front and lr uca's, 5100's non-tsb 2" aal in back. a buddy let me test fit a 265/75/16 off of his just to see how it looked, didn't look bad so i am kinda leaning that way.

i may go with the 265 cuz i don't want to deal wit power loss and chop up my fenders and such.

but i am definitly interested in everyone responses on the matter.

i also forgot to mention that i am considering either the fj special edition or ivan stewart trd wheels.

Not to sound rude, but your specs are a bit rounded in conflicting directions. I just wanted to make sure the specifics were accurate:

    Metric - Standard - Advertised

    265/70/16 - 30.7/10.7 - 31/10.5

    265/75/16 - 31.7/10.6 - 32/10.5

    285/75/16 - 32.8/11.4 - 33/11.5

Though the 33s DEFINITELY look pretty mean, there are also advantages to the 32s (i.e. MPGs, no trimming, stock wheel fitment, etc...). Anyway, it's just too bad we can't all afford each. Happy shopping ;)

I've been checking prices online for a while, looking to get new tires and wheels for my 08 DC sport. Way too expensive up here. Volco quoted me $1100 for 4 Toyo open country AT. You can get wheels and tires for that down in America.
Check out 4wheelparts.com you can get tires and wheels, plus get them mounted and balanced. They have a store in Lynwood, which isn't too far from the border, and you don't pay for shipping if you pick them up. Or try a shipping depot in Blaine or Sumas (depending on your location)

I was in the same boat, keep 265 or move up to 285... I'm glad I stepped up! 285 bfg ko load range D also are severe weather rated (read a post somewhere in here that said they weren't) load E are not though. I had to trim a bit, but not bad. Lost a lil power up grades but nothing drastic. I will regear eventualy. Go for it man.

I stepped up to 285's and it was the biggest mistake I have ever made when it comes to vehicles. I'm trying to sell them now and go back to something smaller. Ridiculous rubbing despite a ton of trimming, poor fuel mileage, big loss in power.

They look great, but that's it.
