Hello, my son recently got a 06 Tacoma Offroad.
we currently have LT265/75 BF Goodrich KO2 All terrain. A friend of ours is selling his KO2L T275/70R18 for $100. We're going to have to convert from 6 to 5 lugs $100+). Can anybody tell me the cons to making this change? Are we going to need to cut the wheel well? Is it going to change our driving, gas mileage etc? Thanks so much.

Are they brand new tires? I would hold off and keep my eyes on craigslist for tires in my wheel size instead of changing wheels and/or lug pattern.

I'd second that. You're going to spend almost as much money and much more time in the long run trying to make this set of tires and wheels fit. And yes you'd probably end up getting some tire interference issues if you didn't make any body or suspension modifications.
Another factor that you may not be considering is the "offset" of the wheelset. If offset is different this could cause interference issues on it's own without even changing tire size.

If it's an OR why do the wheels have to be 5 lug?

If it is a 5 lug truck, no those wheels will not fit without some major cutting.

Either way just too much money/ trouble to spend on used tires instead of buying new.

275/70/18 is a 33" tire. You can't fit those without "massaging" parts of the inner fender well and probably a cab mount chop (typically referred to in shorthand on these forums as a CMC).

Converting from 6 lugs down to 5 lugs?!? No man, just....no. NO. Stop right there and look for something else.

Yes it will change your gas mileage. For the worse.

Save the $100 and buy parts that actually fit instead of trying to Frankenstein it together just because your buddy is cutting you a deal.
