I am new to owning a tacoma I have a 2015 trd off road as it comes from the dealership. I want to do some upgrades such as a lift and tires to start, but being new to this I am fairly inexperienced and was hoping some of you could suggest brands of lift kits and tires. I was thinking about a 3-6 inch lift. Any help is well appreciated.

Also I live in San Antonio texas so if anyone knows a decent place to get work done that would be appreciated too.

Personally I'm a fan of 3" lift compared to 6". 6" just seems to big for practical off road use and causes more wear on the truck with the angle of suspension and drivetrain. I test drove a truck with a 6" lift and couldn't wait to get back into my truck with a 3". So much knowledge on this website im sure some guys will steer you in the right direction

Thanks for your input I was kinda leaning more toward the 3 inch lift

Welcome to TW. I'd look into adjustable Bilstein 5100s.

I'm new to Tacoma's but have thrown away vast amounts of time and money on various jeeps, done it all, seen it all, broke it all, drove many many miles while shaking inconsolably..

My opinion will probably be a wee bit unpopular around here, however, you asked.. Leave it stock. Manufacturers have explored the limits and generally make well balanced machines. On the whole, aftermarket items are inferior and rust/degrade much more quickly than original equipment. My Tacoma is bone ass stock (Accept for a ladder rack/headache bar, I use the truck for work) what I love most is getting on the hwy, hitting 80 and setting the cruise.. smooth as silk for hours without issues.. I'll go ahead and assume there's not a lifted truck in the world that can make the same claim.. Once you get to a certain age you'll realize a man looks much more cool with a fat wallet than fat tires, don't throw away your hard earned money on items you don't need, will rarely if ever use properly and will deteriorate quickly.

    Just sayin..

Love the site, love looking at the mods, still get the itch, but honestly girls see your wallet, big tires attract boys..

LOL big tires attract boys that is hillarious. I actually agree with this and that's coming from a guy with a lifted truck. You could still mod your truck, just take the money and put it into other stuff like sliders, front and rear bumper, new tires, and even ARB lockers. I'm planning on upgrading to a PRO when they come out and keeping it completely stock but adding all of the above that I listed.

After thought: Make sure you read the thread about the front differential needle bearing issue before lifting your truck! It may change your mind. Seems like everyone who lifts has the vibration issue. Somehow I've lucked out and haven't had it yet. I have done my U joints and carrier bearing, as well as both front wheel bearings. However I don't think the lift had anything to do with wheel bearings. Possibly something to do with U joints and carrier bearing but they lasted 127,000 miles. Pretty good for how hard I've rallied

I really need a ladder rack for my '14 Tacoma Access Cab. What kind of ladder rack do you have? I have looked at several sites but none say anything about install with the Tacoma siding anchors on the side rails.

Well, I found it locally. It was cheap and seemed to have everything I want. No holes to drill and a full back bar.IMG_20160211_130856136_HDR.jpg Here it is folded up..

IMG_20160211_130856136_HDR.jpg IMG_20160211_130916809.jpg Here it is open..

I bolted it to the rail with bolts I found at a local jobber..

IMG_20160210_184800189.jpg I simply cut the nuts to fit the rail..

The Headache rack/ladder rack came from Bossracks.com I think, I'll look it up..

    Good luck

Cannot agree more. Only upgrade things that are useful: Tonneau, roof racks, tailgate lock, etc. Pickup trucks have higher risk of roll over. Pay for more safety risk? Do your math..

    Welcome
This is just my opinion many will disagree
I had 2 gen 1,s and now have a 05 with 3/1 spacer lift didn't have any vibe issues till they did my new frame last April.
On all my cars/ trucks I always like to add custom wheels and tires. To me I kind of makes it my own.
That's just how I am but the Tacomas do look great just stock.
I don't do any hard off-roading. Need my truck as my DD and for side work.
