It's a proven fact. Search on the forums. Diff drops don't do crap for the needle bearing. These stupid needle bearing have been on these Tacomas since 1st gens. They even fail on stock tacoma.

    Good luck OP

Because on this site anything but a 3" OME lift is considered garbage

It will be a stiff ride, but if You change your mind and don’t install can you return/exchange it?

Can you post up the kit you bought?

Over 3" it should (and if it is this kit: http://www.roughcountry.com/toyota-suspension-lift-kit-746-20.html , it does) have a diff drop. That relieves a lot of the suspension geometry issues quoted above. Downside - you won't get additional ground clearance... but you're not looking to do offroading, so no biggie.

Most of the dislike for inexpensive kits like RC is that they combine a) lift blocks/spacers and b) inexpensive shocks. Because of a) your truck is essentially on stilts or high heels - it will be more top-heavy and tend not to handle as well in aggressive maneuvers or off-camber. Because of b), running inexpensive shocks and stock rears, these kits tend to have difficulty compensating for the increased roll forces... hence the handling issues at speed.

If you were looking to wheel the truck, improve handling, or get a smoother ride, one of the other suspension options mentioned above is the better way to go. That's the direction I'm taking my build, but it will be closer to 2.5" of lift when done.

If you want the truck to look taller, clear bigger rubber, you're not pushing the envelope on handling, and on a budget, a spacer lift is not a bad option. Post up the specific kit you've bought and see if anyone has first hand experience with it doing the same things you will be. I know there are a few folks on here with large (6") drop bracket lifts.

    Welcome to TW
