Not new to Toyota. I’ve got a 95 4Runner that my daughter stole from me and won’t give back. Bought it not running with 192k and put $1600 in new heads and gaskets- whatnots. It’s been running like a top ever since, it’s now at 390k. With only timing belt replacement and oil changes. Spectacular truck that still looks almost new to this day. I decided that since this truck held up so well with extremely minor maintenance (DIY timing belt). That I was going to buy a truck to play with and have as a daily. As stated it’s an 09 TRD 4x4 off road V6 with (I think) all the bells and whistles. 3” Dakar lift, Dick Cepek wheels. Aside from the minor issues of buying a truck someone else wanted to trade instead of fix it’s been just awesome and far more than I thought a Taco was. My first one and it fits like a glove.

    Couple of questions

Where can I get the cabinet doors inside of the bed besides the stealership?

OEM skid plates or after market?

On immediate acceleration slow or hard I get 3 small bumps in what feels like the rear end, anyone experienced this??

Thanks in advance for any help!

Welcome! Here is some generic help first.

There is a ton of info here, it is just hard sometimes to sift through all the information to find the answer you need. One trick that helps is to do a Google search including your search terms and Tacoma World or tacomaworld.com. That type of search often yields better results then searching directly on TW.

Often a specific thread in the right forum will yield better results then asking in the new members thread. Quite a few of us like to welcome new members but you will get a much larger audience and therefore you would probably have better success with specific posts about each of the 3 questions you have listed above.

    My attempt at answering.

Cabinet doors. Not sure what you are referencing? Where are they located in the truck. Maybe a picture of where you are looking at?

OEM Skid Plates or aftermarket. The OEM skid plate that was a Toyota accessory is not bad and will actually work for light use but if you are USING your truck off road you might consider something more beefy. And then there is the question of aesthetics. In the end your personal preference for how it looks on your truck may win out unless you need that skid plate that cares nothing about looks and is only about function.

I cannot help you with the third question. That will most likely require a specific thread in order for you to get some help. You will need to provide some more information such as exactly what you have for a lift, any other mods that have been done, miles on the truck and on the lift, condition of the u-joints, etc, etc. A video if possible is always helpful also. My experience is not great in terms of suspension mods so I am not the best person to answer your question but there are many knowledgeable people on here. Most are helpful but some tire of answering the same old recycled questions. A new member demonstrating a willingness to do a little work themselves to locate an answer first goes a long way towards encouraging people to help you out.

    Best of luck!

Aftermarket skids will usually be more robust, so it depends on what you will be using them for. If you’re not into heavy stuff, then they’re probably fine. But I’ve seen photos of OEM plates gouged and bent like crazy. That can happen with some of the aftermarket plates, but they’re usually a thicker steel, and it takes a lot more.
