image.jpg I just purchased a 1997 Tacoma. It belonged to a family friend who passed away in 2012. It has 147k miles on it and has not been driven much since 2012. I have purchased a full OME package from wheeler and plan on doing the following

    Change/service
    Transmission
    Engine oil
    Flush radiator (new hoses/thermostat)
    Differentials
    Ball joints
    Control arm bushing
    Tie rod ends
    Spark plugs and wires
    Fuel/air filter

    Anything else you would recommend?

First off, did the whole family pass away? How'd that happen?

I would also replace the pcv valve and grommet since its likely stiff and will crack trying to get it out. Clean throttleboddy and MAF, make sure EGR isnt clogged, check voltage on O2 sensors, get the transfer case aswell when you do the transmission fluid change, Grease your (drive)shaft. I recommend the Redline GL4 stuff. Look into when the timing belt was last replaced. Check brakes, if good, bleed brake and clutch fluid if its a manual. If its an Auto, pull pan and replace filter. Replace a portion (or flush) power steering fluid. Service life is 90K miles but the belts on these trucks can last well into 200K miles before they snap (and if they do, it wont harm anything since the engine is a non-interference one... youll just need a tow). If it hasnt had a belt replacement yet, I would hold off on doing the radiator flush /hoses until you do the timing belt since you'll need to drain the radiator most likely. Whenever you do the timing belt, replace all the other belts.

Congrats on the new ride, I've always loved the older first gen front ends!

Left out significant word in the original post. It was a family friend who passed, not a family.

    Thanks for the additional items
