First I'd like to say what a help this site has providing a ton of information, and a big THANKS to those long time owners that answer the same questions over and over again for new or prospective buyers.

I'm Mike - I was/am on the FJcruiser forum for the last 7 years using the same screen name. I had an 07 FJ 4x4 Auto which I sold. Loved it but needed something different.

After I bought a replacement for the FJ, I realized I might be able to pick up a Tacoma at a good price that would fill a need for me, and keep the FJ replacement.

I just bought a 2000 extra cab 4x4 SR5 V6 Auto yesterday - 117,300 miles. It was garage kept, it's all original, frame is in outstanding condition, no rust anywhere. No accidents, with only a ding here or there that you really have to look for. The previous owner just replaced the brakes and four new tires. Everything that's supposed to work - does. It's a "no excuses" used truck in great shape and I'm absolutely loving' the damn thing so far.

The pervious owner worked maintenance for a school, so it was more transportation for him than a work vehicle, and it shows.

While I feel incredibly lucky to have found my 2000 in the condition it's in, I will say it took a year to educate myself on years/models/options and look for "the one" that I was willing to buy based on condition and price. This isn't an everyday vehicle for me, it's a when I need it truck, so I was able to search as long as it took. In the process, of course, there are all the "clean" vehicles you go see that are such disasters, they're one oil change away from ending up in a junk yard.

And around me at least - throw out the Edmunds, Kelly Blue Book, Black Book, and NASD used car price guides. From my experience they're several thousand dollars under where Tacoma's are actually selling.

So if I can figure out how to do this - I'll post some pictures below:

(Just realized I didn't take any interior pictures - grey, automatic, buckets, center console.)

Thanks to all, I hope I'm able to begin to knowledgeably contribute to the discussions soon.
