Hi everybody! This forum has been a great help to me in finding the right truck for me.

About two months ago I bought a new sailboat, a J/22.

Needed a truck to haul it. Looked at everything. Then I measured my garage. It is 19 ft long, which eliminated just about everything but medium and small pickups. I needed a truck that could haul 3000 pounds easily. That eliminated everything but the Tacoma Double Cab 4wd with a tow package, which is rated for 6500 pounds.

If you're stuck with only one choice it's nice to have it be the truck you want anyway!

My wife and I just got back from a shakedown cruise for the Taco. 5000 miles in two weeks. From home (Minnesota) to Glacier National Park. Down through the Beartooth Pass to Yellowstone. Then through the Tetons, Salt Lake, The Grand Canyon, Custer, Mt Rushmore and the Badlands of South Dakota. Then home. It was a great trip. We camped about half the time in the bed of the truck using a Rightline Gear tent. The truck performed flawlessly. Can't wait to do it again.

J/70's are great boats. We have a new fleet starting at WYC.org. Not listed yet but I think there are already 7 or 8 boats. Thanks for the link!
