I'm back with a new to me 2012 TRD Sport DCSB 2wd in the Pyrite Mica color. It has 126,600 miles and tons of maintenance records and I bought it from a private party here in So CA. It's rust free (except some minor sea air corrosion to the antenna base and front skid plate. I plan on taking it to my mechanic to do a once over after I look through the pile of maintenance records and see what's been done and what hasn't......

First thing I did was pick up new 17" TRD PRO SEMA rims in Matte Grey and had them installed yesterday and I think it looks great!

Waiting on the new OEM headlights and new OEM grille insert I ordered online to arrive to freshen it up

It has Snugtop Rebel bedcap with a drivers side "windoor" and the prolock wiring hooked up to the original remote.....and Thule racks.....all great cuz I'm in construction. The receipt for the Snugtop was over $2,500 and I consider it a big time score!

The tires are near new and are Bridgestone Dueler HL Alenza Plus which I've read are amazing all season light truck tires that have up to a 80,000 mile warranty......another big time score!

The roof has bad oxidation and the hood is starting to show some minor oxidation so I might get a quote to repaint those......and the shocks are original so I already ordered Bilstein 4600's through 4 Wheel Parts and waiting for the call to go pick them up.

The interior is almost flawless as the guy had seat covers and the carpet looks new.....

He even had the original window sticker......base price was $24,510 plus it has display audio with Nav., JBL and sub....a $1,930 option.......plus TRD Sport extra value package ...a $3,760 option......plus tow package.....a $650 option ...and DRL, floor mats & door sill protector and exhaust tip....adding another $320.......all in with delivery the MSRP was $31,495. Quite the pricey truck back in 2012!

anyway, I'm super jazzed and I think I got a smoking deal at $17,000 CASH......I jumped on it the minute I saw it on Autotrader.......it was sold new in Huntington Beach, CA and was owned by both owners who live in Huntington Beach.....I'm real close to there.....no accidents, clean carfax with tons of entries for service and maintenance.....just hope I stick to my budget of ONLY spending $3k on service/upgrades/mods....LOL......oops, I'm already over that amount!

Glad to be back to a Taco!!

I love this grill, once you black out the emblem. I really don’t get all the fuss about the pro grills :notsure:

Interesting. For me, no tire shop will mount the 17x7.0 wheels on that stock size tire. Too narrow rim width.

hmmmm.....I'm not a tire guy and don't really know what the difference is but I did take it to America's Tire and they never even questioned it......I had the tires already because they were already on the truck and I just bought the new TRD rims and they mounted them no questions asked.......and yes, you're right, the rims are 17x7.......the proper size tire of the Bridgestone Dueler HL Alenza Plus for this rim is P265/70R17 according to the research I did on Tirerack.com......that size tire is 31.6" overall diameter versus 30.5" overall diameter for the P265/65R17.....that's the only difference I could find......but the manufacturer recommends a rim width range of 7.5" to 9.5" for the P265/65R17 versus a rim width range of a 7" to 9" for the P265/70R17.......don't know why the different rim width range if it's just an inch taller and nothing else???

but so far I haven't had any issues.......but......what issues would I have anyway???......just asking cuz now I'm curious......my TRD Sport is strictly on road only!

here's some additional interesting info......the P245/70R17 is the same overall diameter of 31.5" as the P265/65R17.......but has a tread width of 7.6" versus 8.2" for the P265/65/R17.......and the P245/70R17 has a rim width range of 6.5" to 8".......so I guess that's a decent option if I HAD to change my tire size for whatever reason.....I would want the same diameter as not to mess with the speedo and a tiny bit skinny tire would be no biggie for me....

So glad I got rid of my existing Bridgestone Dueler H/L Alenza Plus in the 265/65/17 size and went with the Toyo Open Country A/T III......great tire all round.......looks, performance on dry and wet (raining all day today), ride quality and price..........I'm glad I choose these "mild" A/T tires and hopefully they'll last a long time (65,000 mile warranty)......size was perfect as well......255/70R17 S/L........half inch taller and half inch narrower then the Bridgestones but I can't tell that they're any narrower and the look great for height and width.......I just had to remove the little "front of the front tire mud flap thingy" as it was rubbing at full turn.....no bigger and I don't want or need a lift as I'm a 2wd and drive 95%+ on road and maybe an occasional dirt road or a trip to the snow......and yes, they look "beefy" enough on the sidewall......not quite as aggressive on the sidewall as the BFG KO2's but not bad at all IMO.....well worth the $172 each from America's Tire!

How much did you pay for that 'new' grill? I have my old one I need to sell to clear out space but no clue what to list it for.

Otherwise your rig looks fantastic. After my 265/75/16's wear out i'm going up to 255/85/16's for sure!

Congrats on the ride, I'm digging the whole setup.

Did you go with P or LT rated A/T III's?

I have a set of the P rated AT II 2's, and have been pretty happy with them. I have somewhere between 30-35k on them, and they still have plenty of tread. They are still the quietest AT tire I've had, and have been able to maintain pretty good mileage also. I haven't had any problems in snow, or rain with them either. When it comes time to replace them, I'm thinking of going either with another set of these, or trying out the Wildpeaks.

I got the 255/70R17 size which is about 1/2" taller then stock (265/65R17) and it says it's a 1/2" narrower but I don't see that at all as they don't look skinny!....They are S/L (standard load) which are the same (? I think) as P rated.....so they are actually the same weight as the take offs......they ride super smooth yet grip in the wet very well!......I seriously looked at the wildpeaks but they're heavier by a few lbs per tire and their warranty is 55,000 miles versus 65,000 for the Toyo's........and honestly, the sidewall on the Wildpeaks looks a little funky to me.......eaither one would be a great choice but I'm glad I get these as they checked all the boxes and the price is great at $172 each.....

Yeah they do sound like P's. All things being the same, I would go with the lighter tire, so I probably will end up getting another set of the Toyo's.

I'm on my second set of Toyo ATII's P-rated 265/75/16's... Definitely love them but would like to go to a taller tire next.
