    Hey all,

Soo I just bought my first ever new Tacoma and I have caught the mod itch, hopefully this question isnt too dumb.... So I'm planning on running some wires into the cab through the firewall. Was trying to decide the best place to do that. As I'm not exactly ecstatic about punching holes in the wire harness boot, I looked for alternatives.

With that said have any of you used this particular grommet before(images below)? It appears to be alright as I punched through the carpet and it seemed to come out alright inside. It's on the driver side behind the, what I'm assuming is, the brake booster assembly.

As I'm completely new to all these things I figured Id ask if someone used it before as idk if there is something I'm missing about it. Or if anyone has any solutions that worked really well for running wires through the firewall.

    Thanks!

I used that big ass grommet that already has a bundle of wires running through it. The hood latch cable runs through it too. Plenty of room.

The wire harness seems super tight in there and everyone seems to suggest using a coat hanger and punching holes in it to run wire.

I could do that I suppose but I just wasn't sure about poking holes in it or not.

    Thanks for the info!

I've seen a couple guys running switch pros run their wires through that grommet, I have a switch pro waiting to be installed and intended to use it as well but do not have any personal experience.

The one who dies with the most stuff wins.
I went through the big rubber boot that all the other wires go through. Just use a metal coat hanger and punch through.

I went through the big grommet with the hood latch cable too, used bailing wire to pull my switch pros harness through it, was pretty easy

I’ve heard the 2 large nipples on the rubber boot of the passenger side are hollow if you cut the ends off. Would be the cleanest way - but then you have to route the wires over to the driver’s side

i routed mine through the hood cable hole, and another through a grommet i drilled out near the master cylinder
