I have KO2s as well but run winter tires, you get a shitload of snow where you are at so they could come in handy
You can use any term you want to describe how you drive around in the bush, whatever makes you feel good
What’s your budget for suspension and upgrades ?

Haha! But in all seriousness speaking from personal experience, I sleep way better in an RTT after a bear experience in the remote mountains.

We camp in flood plains and in 2'+ of snow. The RTT works well for us. But it's just a tool / means to get rest and get out there.

I also have a ground tent I use frequently as well if I need a base camp or we are going remote.

But to be honest all things aside, I camp way more in extreme weather because of comfort factors in the RTT because the ground tent isn't fun to wake up in mud or to try and fold up in the nasty weather of winter. Plus the RTT doesn't weigh me down. People act like it's a big burden because you get "tied down " with a RTT. Haha takes me 2 minutes to fold it up while the GF stuffs the sleeping bag away. But like I said, they're all just different tools for me, and I Normally pick the most comfortable and reasonable.

Nice I use to camp like that as well, then I realized I wanted a wee bit more comfort, items with me. I don’t carry. Much but when you look at everything for recovery, camping, dog etc. The weight sure adds up fast.

The origin of the term Overlanding comes from at least as far back as early exploration of the western US and promoting "Manifest Destiny". In my best early explorer accent that sounds kinda British, "we'll take the overland route to the pacific and meet the sea going party at the mouth of the great river".

Modern day trust funders have given the term an ironic new meaning.

My two cents; not an expert. I went with protection, then suspension. Added some skid plates, then some sliders. Then new suspension. Then new wheels & AT tires.

I actually got a lot of off-road use out of the stock tires. I only got new wheels and tires because I split a sidewall being reckless (why is fun is always so reckless)... And well, since I was getting new tires, I figured I needed to go all in.

we laugh and go on, but look at 90% of the trucks on taco world and how clean they trucks are. Then look at the hi lifts, shovels, implements on them. Not a spot of rust/scratch. The only off-roading they do is to hop a curb at the local mall. Or the dirt road that is basically a highway as it is.

    +1 on dropping "Overlanding" term

I think Christopher Guest should do an "Overlanders" parody film ala "A Mighty Wind" and "Best in Show" featuring a group of head to toe Patagonia sporting, cushy adventurers with their portable espresso machines, fireside filet mignon, and homemade sushi.

Dude. Could be hilarious. Imagine a recovery situation where a winch is removed from a box and screwed to a tree or some shit by a dude in a big puffy down coat.

I’d love to have one of those however I pay attention.

WhipSaw is a trail in BC, Everybody raves about however I have yet to find its exact location I know there’s one in the fernie area and one just in the Fraser Valley which one they’re referring to I don’t know

Apparently it’s a difficult trail if you don’t take the bypasseS

    Just wanted clarify something...

There is a difference between off-roading, mudding, mall crawling, and overlanding. I think there is some confusion amongst a lot of people as to which is which.

Overlanding describes self-reliant adventure travel to remote destinations where the journey is the primary goal. Typically, but not exclusively, accommodated by mechanized off-highway capable transport (from bicycles to trucks) where the principal form of lodging is camping; often lasting for extended lengths of time (months to years) and often spanning international boundaries. While expedition is defined as a journey with a purpose, overlanding sees the journey as the purpose. These folks can be found on Instagram detailing every inch of their journey with excessive use of the hashtag. Overlanding is essentially motorized homelessness with the end goal of living in a van down by a river.

Off-roading is defined as the activity or sport of driving a motor vehicle over rough terrain. This does not include hard packed flat dirt roads or posing for a pic in a ditch. This category requires driving skills.

Mud bogging (also known as mud racing, mud running, mud drags, or mudding) is a form of off-road motorsport popular in Canada and the United States in which the goal is to drive a vehicle through a pit of mud or a track of a set length. Winners are determined by the distance traveled through the pit. This activity is usually frequented by overcompensating men in excessively lifted full-size diesel trucks accompanied by 3 or 4 trailer park meth-head females in Budweiser bikini tops and cutoff shorts.

A mall crawler is any truck or suv that's hella lifted, excessively adorned with ligh bars, color changing rock lights, headlight and tail light strobes, halo rings, large diameter deep dish wheels, low profile mud terrains, and in some cases high quality suspension. But the difference is not a spec of dirt can be found on it showing that it's not actually used for off road. The drivers of these vehicles are most notable recognized by their flat billed hats, white framed Oakley sunglasses, and tank tops. They are usually found hanging out in parking lots vaping with other mall crawlers.

Invest in gas and just drive the tires off your truck on trails. That will get you the most bang for the buck.

Sliders are good too and will prevent expensive door damage.
