    Hey guys,
I'm new to the LA area (living near west hollywood hills) and looking to get into offroading my 2011 TRD Offroad 4x4 Tacoma. But, I need some new tires.
Does anyone have any recommendations on who can mount and balance a set for me? I'm running 265/70/16's on there right now, and looking to bump them up to 265/75/16. Probably the Goodyear Duratrac.

It would be awesome if a member here had the ability to mount and balance.

It would also be cool to meet some of you and hopefully get my truck a little dirty.
Here's a picture of my truck:

and one of my bike, because why not...

I live in Glendale. You are closest to Hungry Valley, Holy Jim, and Azusa for legal off roading options. Have you ever driven on dirt, sand, mud? Start off in Hungry Valley and follow the map around some green trails to get your tires dirty. They have a long sand wash to practice driving in sand. Stop a few times and see what happens when you go slow. Get it to push a little and practice.

Go with BFG. either ko2s or rugged terrain. I have rugged terrain on my 2012 DCSB. no complaints here @davet111

I've never drive in dirt sand or mud, but grew up driving in the snow so know what to expect and know how to get myself unstuck. My tires (Yokohama Geolanders) in front are in need of replacement but my rears are still pretty good. Do you think I could get by with crappy front tires for a little while longer or should I replace them?

You'll be fine with worn fronts if you have 4 wheel drive. The only problem I would worry about is puncturing the tread and ruining them. Just stay away from rocks.

I work for a tire shop and yes you can get away with the bald tires in front. Just avoid pot holes etc. Make sure you get a tire warranty when you get new tires. Look for a tread wear of more than 400. @davet111

Hungry Valley says you have to have current CA registration and a park sticker. How strict are they about this? I have expired, out of state tags.

They won't look at your rear plate. That's mostly for dirt bikes during green sticker season. It's usually some kid and it's too cold for them go want to check you tags on a truck

your truck has a front license plate, right? Green and red stickers are for off highway vehicles. They will see a truck coming and won't care about the plates or registration.

I went out to hungry valley today and had a blast! I've never really had to use 4lo or atrac before and I was super impressed, even with the shitty tires.
