I went with the Dobinsons kit myself for a few reasons:

    1. The Dobinsons have 3 adjustments (high speed and low speed compression, rebound) and the BP-51’s only have 2 adjustments (high and low speed compression)

    2. The Dobinsons reservoir hose has 360* fittings so they should be easier to mount and relocate if necessary.

    3. The adjustments for Dobinsons are located on the reservoir and accessible without removing the tire. The BP-51’s have the adjusters on the shock body and they’re hard to get to without removing the front tires. Rear adjustments to the BP-51’s would require you to crawl under the truck.

    4. Dobinsons leaf springs seem to have better reviews on here.

Those all sound like very good reasons. The more I read, the more I'm leaning towards this setup. The price difference could pay for a U-bolt flip and most of a UCA swap if need be. Seems like they have a very good presence here as well.

Well, I don't know if anyone was curious about what I went with, but I'll tell ya anyhow. Dobinsons got my money. Went with the MRA kit with the full work up short of new UCAs as I'm only shooting for 2-2.5" of lift or so. If it turns out I need them, I'll bite that bullet in April when everything shows up.

Now on to tires. I'm kind of leaning towards keeping the stock rims as I like them unlike some other folks around here it seems. I'm looking at a 33" tire, but not sure if I want skinnys or not. I'm thinking either 255/85r16, or 285/75r16. Anyone have any thoughts one way or the other? This is my daily driver, along with what will hopefully be once a month camping trips fully loaded down running the gambit of desert, beach, and mountain off-roading.

    Hey man,

Thanks for the list. I just got my Tacoma not too long ago and trying to decide which suspension kit to go with. I am looking to add an overland set-up in the near future. My budget is at $2,000 with professional install. Which kit would you recommend? I am also looking to get 33's in the future. Thanks for your help in advance.

I installed Dobinsons on a friend of mines and I can confirm that it rides smoother than my Kings, Good choice.
