Hi all. Longtime lurker. I’m a bit of a noob working on cars. I got a used Tacoma and bought some new coil overs from a 3rd gen.

I’m currently changing the front ones.

I watched a lot of YouTube videos, and came across one where they say to loosen the brake line. Please see pic. I thought I had to loosen the nut. I loosened it a bit and fluid started to seep. I tightened it again and cleaned it. Did I mess up my brakes?

As far as l know, there is no reason to open up the brake line to do a brake job. Unless you are replacing the line itself.

Unless they meant to remove the line from the mounting clip. There is a sliding retainer that will allow you to move the brake line out of the mounting clip to give you some slack in the brake line.

Sounds like you didn't allow any aur into the line. If the brakes feel good. Then you are good to go.

If the pedal feels normal and brakes act normally, then no harm, no foul.

You should be just fine. You don’t need to mess with brake lines to install the coilover.

Gravity should push the fluid out. You should be fine. If your brakes feel mushy take it to a shop and get them bled.
