Well, I have decided that it's time to get a truck (again). I owned an 01 Ranger years ago and in the last few years I've been kinda of wanting one. Now, I am in the position again to get something new and I think that a Tacoma is the best bet. I have never wanted anything Japanese in my life, because I've been pro-American or European. I've been doing a ton of research, besides the fact that they are built in Texas, I can look past that the money is going to Japan.

I want something that's going to last a long time and something that I can take off-road and not worry about it.

I'm originally from Minnesota, but I'm stationed out in NC. I plan on moving back to Minnesota some time in the future, but I may end up back in California where I met my wife, when I was stationed there.

Still doing research on the trucks, but I'm looking for a facelift 2nd gen with less than 100k on it. It's not that hard to find one, but not so much in my price point. I will keep searching though, I have time to.

    See you guys around!

    Wecome!

I get where you're coming from, but Toyota does create a lot of US jobs with their operations here. 2nd gen Tacomas are great trucks, I was in the market for a used one as well recently but came across an '04 I fell in love with instead. Out here in southern California, there are way more 2wd Tacomas than 4x4...so my search took awhile (I also wanted to get a manual which narrowed it down even more). Good luck in your search! Keep us posted

Oh I totally know about SoCal's truck mania and the bros that cruise around in their "pre runner." haha

I was stationed at Camp Pendleton for four and a half years and my wife is from SD. I totally know the scene out there. I think I want a 4x4 and the TRD Sport package with dual cab. Other than that, I don't care if its manual or auto.
