Hey guys, this is officially my 1st post. Ive been searching and digging throught posts like this for the past 2 days and either im blind or what I want to know is hidden so good its scary. I have a 2014 Double Cab TRD Tacoma, looking at putting a 3" Toytec spacer lift mainly because of price. Its a pavement queen except for the 2 miles to get from the pavement to my house. I have my old truck to beat the shit out of so my $28k truck doesn't have to. Mainly looking for the look and stance. My last vehicle was a 06 Silverado on 35s so im having a hard time adjusting to looking up at people lol. But I have some questions.
1-What are the cons of these lifts? Ive read horror stories about shocks busting and what not

2-If these lifts are "BAD" for the vehicle then why does my Dealership sell and warranty Tacomas and Tundras with leveling and 3" lifts?

Any input would be helpful. And i'll be doing the lift on my back in my driveway, which is why the spacers seem appealing to me. Thanks again guys.

1 - It's your truck and your budget so do what is right for you. If no real off roading then you'll probably be just fine.
2 - The dealer will sell and warranty a sticker, so adding a $300 lift and charging $2500 extra for it is pretty much just what they do.
10 - They are in the business of making money after all.

As for Input, you may not even need a lift if you add the appropriate tire size to gain real ground clearance and avoid all the issues of a budget lift

The thing is that even with the lift your looking at the max tire size isn't going to change. I believe you can get a 265/70R16 and maybe a 275 in there, but without a cab mount chop or much greater lift your still kinda limited.

for reference, this is my truck without lift and 32" tires (255/75R17). Do I want a lift? sure who doesn't... but I know that I don't really need it and it is for the most part a cosmetic mod, other than the better performance out of aftermarket shocks.

Again it is your money and your truck, however... Had I purchased everything I initially seen when landing on this forum, I'd have a bunch mods and money wrapped up in vanity mods. I'm a big impulse buyer and have really had to learn to slow down, I'm glad that I am because the truck and budget will appreciate the long slow romance I'm giving it. In other words, I'm not adding anything to this truck without some serious thought and consideration to how said mod will effect future mods.

It came factory with 265/70/16s. Id just like to have a level stance and a wider looking tire.

    LOL... Thanks

I'm that Guy, you know the one you want to buy used cars and motorcycles from. I like things to be better than new.

I take it offroad and get dirty plenty but always make a point to clean up in the car wash. We have a large carwash chain here that offers unlimited washes for $29 month, but I truly credit the shine to "Original Bike Spirits" spray cleaner and polish. Remove's tar, bugs and just about anything else you don't want on the surface of your paint. Leaves things very clean and resistant to new debris buildup as well. most mud and bugs simply rinse off with a garden hose.

I wash mine alot!!!Polish it up, etc.. My 10 year old truck still looks real new. Only thing is the rock chips I have on rockers from my tires. Other than that and some assholes door ding on my truck, it's all good.
