So I just bought a 1998 Toyota Tacoma for $500. The guy told me it wouldnt pass inspection for a couple of minor items ( broken door handle one tire needed replaced) I then find out that it wont pass inspection because of the frame being rusted. Ive never seen so much rust in the frame of a vehicle in my life and Ive owned some old vehicles. I now come to find that this is a common problem in my particular vehicle. After doing some research, I believe its outside of the recall period. Is it hard to find a frame for this truck that I could transfer it to or would I just be better off parting it out?

Thanks for the info. Getting the $500 back wont be an option. It runs good and has a cap on the back so Im sure I could scrounge up a couple of bucks for it. Thanks again!

I was thinking I could part it out. It does have a manual trans. The previous owner was recently in an accident and just had the front fender and headlight assembly replaced, so they are new. It has mostly good sheetmetal and the engine runs good and I know the 22r motors are great motors. It has 177000 miles on it. I guess its possible someone might buy it for parts. Im in Virginia by the way just outside of DC
