    Hello all,
I've been lurking here since I began shopping for a truck and comparing models. Years ago, when my old S-10 finally kicked the bucket, I decided to get a more economical Scion xA. While I really love this little car, it doesn't do a good job in deep snow, and it also is not worthy of anything more than a decent dirt-road. As my wife also drives a small car, we needed a truck for hauling, towing, inclement weather and 4WD excursions.

We realized that we only rarely ever go camping anymore, and I no longer do any mountain biking because loading and hauling bikes around with a clown-car is a big pain.

I finally settled on a Tacoma, but i wanted to get a new one. All they had on the lot were either 4 door models, or automatics. I wanted a manual V6 extended cab with the Off-Road package. As I intend on driving this thing for the next 300K miles or so, I decided to have one ordered/built to my specs.

I had the dealership install the TRD exhaust as well as heated seats (my wife's requirement for me getting a new vehicle). After picking up the truck, I took it to have the front windows tinted to match the tint on the rear windows.

I'm currently saving up for a topper and will probably get either an ARE or a Leer. I've looked at used ones and continue to scan the Forums and Craigslist, but more than likely I'll end up just ordering one that meets my requirements.

I have other upgrades planned, but one thing at a time. I have to get used to making a monthly payment before I commit to any serious off-road customizations such as suspension, bumpers, or tires/wheels.

For now I'm happy as cake with my new toy!
