Hello I wanted to know any common problems with the first gen Tacoma’s because I just bought a 2000 today with 147k miles on it and I’ve never owned a Tacoma before, and any suggestions on upgrades?

Grab some all terrain tires, remember to change the oil on schedule, wash the outside, vacuum the inside and enjoy the ride.

Post some pics, which engine does it have, also if you don't know the repair history, if it's a 3.4L, you might want to change the fan bearing. Don't be cheap on the lower ball joints, buy Genuine Toyota parts for this. Also a 3.4L needs the timing belt and water pump changed every 90k miles. Buy a good kit with the idler pulleys and tensioners included. If it's a 4x4 change the diff gear oil, transfer case and the rear end oil also. Welcome to TW, the only thing you need here are deep pockets and the willingness to keep your truck running good.
