I’m just starting to get into trucks but have always loved the look and feel of the Tacoma. I am in the market for one but I don’t know much.
    My budget is 12-14k max
I would like to get a 4 door (double cab)
    4x4. In white or black
What miles should I be confident in taking a look at?
I live in CT (snow belt)
Most of the trucks in my area right now are in New York so I’m going there this Saturday. Any thoughts or WWYD is much appreciated!!!

    With a budget like that.
It will likely be a 2011 or older truck.
CHECK THE FRAME FOR RUST. They rust out BAD up north.
    Avoid a 2005 or 2006 model.

So you're looking at 2007-2011 or so.

I would personally find a good condition, well maintained Silverado 2008-2012(or gmc Sierra 1500) with your budget. Way better truck all around and they last- have 240k miles on one of them original engine trans and it’s beat so shit.

Tacomas used are way overpriced for what you’re getting and the gas mileage sucks.

unfortunately, that is going to be the largest limiting factor.

i was in that situation about 5 years ago. $10-15k is predominantly going to be 1st/early 2nd generation tacoma's that have been through hell and back. most will have over 200k miles, many will be in the 300k mile range, they will have dents, and rust.

if you're really looking for a mid-size truck(as i prefer as well), and already ruled out full size f-150's, ram's, and silverado's, i would highly recommend looking at the ford ranger/mazda b100. they're the same truck, parts are extremely available everywhere, and every bit as reliable, but because of the brand name attached, end up much cheaper.
