ok... so I just got an 09 double cab trd prerunner, I havent fully decided if Im gonna convert this to a 4wd or just do some work to the truck as is. the main factor is I know nothing about doing lifts, tranny mods or anything of that nature. Any good advice on where I can do some homework, or any good suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Best, most effective, safest , most comfortable, proper way to lift a prerunner is spindles! camburg and total chaos both sell them and I run the Camburgs which I LOVE!

that's not the only way but its the preferred way if you have the money. you can look into billstien 5100 adjustable shocks that can give you up to 3 inches of lift. you can adjust them to 1.75 or 2.5 as well to level out that downward front rake that comes from the factory. with 3 inches set on them you can ad an AAL or add-a-leaf in the rear leaf pack to get a level 3 inches out of the whole truck. if you want preformance, toyotech, king, donahoe, fagtech all make coil overs with an adjustable 3 inches of lift. those options give you a better off road feel. i run the fagtech's (they came with the truck) i plan on swapping out to some kings or toyotechs one day. you can even do lift spacers but that's lame, makes your truck ride like a bag of beat up buttholes. but any lift creates caster issues as far as i know. not to sure about spindal lifts but cant see how they wouldn't, but im sure someone can correct me if im wrong. but that can be corrected with new UCA'a or upper control arms. light racing makes an affordable set with adjustable caster built into them, camberg makes a set with stock ball joint or 1 inch uniball and so does total caos with there 1 inch uniball replacement for the upper ball joint(those are the bomb). now converting to 4wd is time consuming and fairly expensive but it can be done. i believe there is a few guys who have done it on here and have write ups if you search 4x4 conversion or something like that. Oh and if you do spindles you can't do 4x4 since you would need the stock 4x4 spindles anyway

by the way chris...gay robot says high:D

If you want to convert your prerunner to 4x4, you should just sell the prerunner and find a solid 4x4. Since you don't seem mechanically inclined this would probably be the best thing for you to do

+1 If you want 4x4 sell your 2wd and get a 4x4. It'll cost you way more to convert, plus issues.
