Hello everyone! I’m so glad that I found this forum! I’ve previously owned 2 Ford Rangers, a 1993 and a 1999. I bought a 2023 Toyota Tacoma SR5 4 door V6 automatic transmission and it’s 2x4. After reading this forum I bought a new oil filter housing. A good friend of mine works at a repair shop and so I have access to a lift and all the other shop equipment. What are the must have upgrades for Tacomas? I’m not sure if my truck has a transmission cooler or not. I asked the dealer how much a transmission flush would cost and the service advisor looked freaked out. I explained that the reason I wanted to get new ATF is because the transmission was being broken in which means I have millions of flecks of metal roaming around my transmission fluid. I live in Florida and my biggest concern is over heating, or running hot. Decreasing transmission temp by 1-3 degrees exponentially increases the service life of the automatic transmission. Any advice or suggestions for a newbie like me would be greatly appreciated.

Stock (99.999%) OEM Bed Floor Mat, Front Bed Rail Cargo Net and hooks, Auto-Dim mirror w/Compass and outside Temperature display, TRD Pro Grille, Uni-Filter air pump modification, WeatherTech floor liners f/r. (winter) OEM All-Weather floor mats (summer).
Install the largest external cooler that will fit in front of the condenser/radiator. My prefence is the "stacked plate" type. I would hold off on any fluid changes until 50,000-60,000 miles and do a drain-and-fill only. Leave the internal filter, drain plug and pan alone for now. My preference for fluid is OEM Toyota WS which some have indicated is Synthetic. Pick and check a few dealers in your area and shop around on the official Toyota parts website especially when they have a sale or free shipping incentives. The dealers compete with each other on their parts sites, so check a few. One near me is currently listing it on sale for $11.95/qt. (free pick up at counter)

My non-Toyota vehicles get full-synthetic transmission fluid that says: "meets or exceeds Toyota Standard 'xxxxxx' " right on the bottle.
