New to TW, does G4 Elite lock in the front

Hi guys,

I'm new here. Just bought a 2016 tacoma access cab TRD off-road.
I'm looking at the G4 elite for the bed cover. Seems pretty solid and safe. But how does the front panel work? All the videos are showing how easy to open the piece near the cab and put stuff in. But I assume that piece can be locked too?
Where do I go order it to get a good price? I live in Virginia. Their official website shows $820.
What is the footman loop for? Does it still lock pretty good without it?

BTW, my brake paddle is making that weird sound some people have noticed. And my handle for shifting gear can rotate... I don't think that's normal?...Planned to go to the dealer Friday.

The G4 Elite opens and locks at both ends (cab and tailgate). I'm pretty sure you have to go through fold-a-covers website to purchase it, there is a $25 off promo code you can use that's listed in one of the other threads. The footman's loop shouldn't be needed for the 2016 since the tailgate locks.
