Welcome... Maybe share what your needs are, if you want any feedback?

Street only, some snow, some off roading?

    New/ Used?
    2WD/ 4WD?
    V-6 or I-4?
    Manual or Automatic?
2 door, Access Cab, 4 door?
    Std. bed, long bed?
Base Model/ Traction package 'Off Road TRD' / or Appearance package 'Sport TRD'?

Hope we can help, but at least we hope you have a great experience with a Tacoma... I came over in 2000, and have been a believer ever since! Now on Tacoma #3 (5 yr. leases)... you can't wear them out!

thanks everyone. @mcdowell, looking for 2nd gen thats relatively stock unless I find something that has everything I want done to it already. I've looked at quite a few and I am partial to charcoal or white colors. Definitely 4wd.

Quite the opposite, I want him to know we are here to help and there are a lot of options and we can better help if we know what his Tacoma is needed for... yes?

    Oh, and Happy Easter!

It wasn't a joke... didn't know how else to make it generic sounding...

All 2009+ Tacomas have TRAC/ AUTO LSD limited slip.

    What goes beyond that...

Apperance (Sport) Pkg: Colored trim, painted bumper, artificial hood scoop.

Traction (Off Road) Pkg: Locking rear differential, and Active Traction Control on 4WD models.

@DK- I am looking for used at the moment. I live in SoCal but I am based in Colorado as of now so I would use it mostly for snowboarding, hunting, etc. Preferably 4wd automatic. 4 doors. Standard bed. I dont really know the differences between all of the packages yet but I am assuming the appearance package. Thanks for all the help, I will take all I can get!

Well, there are two ways to measure durability: time it is good and miles it is good.

If it sits in a garage a lot, 5 years means little. That is why mileage means more than age...

To me, if it is driven a lot of miles, that means more than how old it is.

    2001 Tacoma: Nov. 2000 to Aug., 2005: 4.75 years and 136,000+ miles!
    2005 Tacoma: Aug., 2005 to Dec., 2009: 4.33 years and 102,000+ miles!
2010 Tacoma: Dec., 2009 to present: 2.33 years and 36,000+ miles...

I have but one vehicle for work and play, so it must be reliable! The Tacoma is.

That is fine, indeed... The Sport is very popular!
2005 was the first year for the Sport... it had a mechanical limited slip differential through 2008 model. In 2009 all Tacomas got electrical, brake assisted limited slip systems called 'TRAC', and it works very well... specially in the 4WD mode (High Range only).

In Low Range, only the Off Road TRD has traction aid, called A-TRAC... and it makes the truck perform 'close to' one with after-market lockers added. Those with the Sport TRD have performed a mod that tricks the ecu into thinking it is in High Range while in Low, so the TRAC works in low... much better traction than only open differentials in Low. See the 4 low trac mod for that trick!

    Enjoy your future purchase...!!!

I know, that is why I don't baby my truck while it is on a lease! I plan on purchasing the 2010, it is so perfect.
