The new fords reliability has tanked even from just a year ago. They were ranked 10th in reliability (still not great), and now.......20th!!!!! EVEN CHRYSLER IS AHEAD OF FORD AT 13th!!!!!!

I pull a Hybrid Starcraft TT weighs 3500lbs dry, my 2005 DC 6spd seem to work a bit harder when carrying 5 people. I even hav bilsteins to swap but now selling to u/g to either Tundra or F150 ..am confused. How important is payload compared to HP and Torque..as Tndra seem far better than F150 for HP & Trque. sorry its a thread jack. thnks:)

Where do I find this info? I assume it's JD power or Consumer reports?

*note* This is an honest question, not me calling you out on this info, I just would like to see where everyone fell into place.

I got that info from CR. You can google it, and find many links on it.

HP & Trque = How much you can tow. (other things aside, brakes cooling etc.)
Payload = How much you can put in the truck and tongue weight the truck can handle.

Me personally, I perfer a 3/4 ton when going full size. 1/2 tons are so easy to overload, but the F150 has a HD option the gets the load capacity to around 1800. I had a Chevy 3500 that had 3600lb. load capacity but could only tow 7000lbs. with it's 350, my current Chevy 2500HD's capacity is 2500lbs. but tows 14,000lbs.

Yes, you'll need payload for towing, especially when you are talking about travel trailers and camping gear. The tongue weight of the trailer counts towards the payload, as you have said. Many people forget that, including pretty much all sales people, LOL.

The HD option of the F150 gives you 2,310 lbs of payload in the worst case configuration: super crew 4x4 6.5' bed. After some extras that's probably somewhere between 2,200 - 2,250 lbs of net payload. That's almost 1,000 lbs more than a comparable Tundra: nearly 2x! Again, I have no idea what the Toyota engineers were thinking when they gave their half ton truck pretty much the same payload as the Tacoma.

It could actually very well go up, as that 3.5L ecoboost with it's 420 ft-lbs tows better than the 5.0L V8. It may be one of Ford's answers to address the new tow ratings. We'll see I guess. That's more torque than the Tundra 5.7 V8 out of that 3.5L 6-cylinder, over a wider rpm range.

Care to wager some rep points on that? I doubt it will go up. For reference here's 2012 tow capacities chart for the F150. We'll compare this to the 2013 info when it comes out.

In recent years Ford has been a model of American reliability, competing well against Japanese makes that have dominated for decades. But three of its new models are blemishing that record.
The new Ford Explorer, Fiesta, and Focus all had below-average reliability in their first year. As a result, Ford’s overall reliability rank among 28 major car makes slipped from the 10th to the 20th spot this year—the biggest drop for any major nameplate in Consumer Reports' 2011 Annual Auto Survey.

The stupid microsoft based touchscreen junk was the culprit. The F150 is still the only vehicle motor trend did a long term test with not 1 issue.
So far my only "issue" is a hardly audible door rattle.
Judging by the recurring complaints posted daily on this site, I don't think either the Tacoma or F150 fit the stereotypes associated with their brands.

Yeah, that will be interesting to see, thanks for posting that doc. Let's re-visit this later next year!
The one I have on order is listed at 11,100 lbs.

It's all cool guys, I see what's happening here.

A Ford fanboy shows up and is determined to change the opinions of the ENTIRE TOYOTA FLEET on a Toyota fan site....

Other things on his to-do list today:

    1. Swim up a waterfall.
    2. Turn lead into gold.
    3. Win Lottery (yea baby!)
    4. Convince Democrats and Republicans they should agree on something (hell, anything! :)).

This is all in jest Hemi, I honestly just enjoy seeing someone get all riled up. Seshgang is getting an F150 also, and he's not defending or insulting anyone else's purchase. Notice nobody is jacking with him? They are just attacking you cause there is blood in the water.

I mean comon, I'm driving a friggin Chevy and I'm not even getting hate...

It's all in the approach man.
