Just got the AT3's 2 weeks ago and tested them out on the Alpine Loop outside of Lake City, CO. Tires performed extremely well. These are LT265/70R17 E load. Highway manners are good with a fairly quiet ride. There is a higher pitched hum at highway speed but nothing I would consider loud. The ride is slightly firmer than my C load KO2's these replaced but am very happy with their feel for an E load. The sidewalls look great in person and are much more aggressive looking than any photos I've seen. All in all these seem to be a fantastic tire!

Had a set put on today (LT265/75R16), really disappointed with the sidewalls. Really very little meat there...was thing that concerned me as some photos looked fairly aggressive, almost like a ko2 sidewall and in others looked really shallow. Thought it was P vs LT, but mine are LT, E rated.

They are stamped made in Japan though, wonder if there is any significant difference there.

Compared to the RTs they are replacing (which I really do like). Rolls easier. Rides a bit more plush. Slightly quieter at highway speeds, considerably quieter up to 45mph or so.

Sidewalls thickness does seem different between these two...???

I'll have to check where mine were manufactured...mine are LT265/70r17 E (top tire above) and the sidewall tread definitely looks more pronounced than the one in the bottom pic.

Even the shoulder blocks look larger and more cut out on the one tire....

I know pictures can be deceiving, glad I'm not the only one seeing the difference. I guess post #492 on this thread says as much...I emailed Toyo to see if there was anything they could do to confirm/help. Overall, I'm digging the tire but no so much the part where the sidewall looks like a passenger tire.

That would be very helpful. Looking closer at the pictures on this thread, at least the ones I can make out, my tires look closer to the whitewall tires made in Japan or non LT tires made in the US.

So which one is supposed to have the more aggressive/bigger side siping etc? The SL or the LT/E? Getting confused with the back and forth here. Or we still trying to figure that out?

My understanding is less aggressive for the below:

    - Made in Japan of any type
    - Made in USA, anything lighter than LT/E

Hopefully, this can be confirmed with some folks that have USA made LT/E rated tires of similar size to LT265/75/16 (which by default should be made in the US).

So it seems they abandoned the "Xtreme" designation and design difference in the larger sizes with the AT3 compared to the AT2.

The AT3 looks a bit more pedestrian, i'll probably just stick with the AT2 as long as they are available then switch to something else later.

The AT III features two different sidewall designs.

I saw that while flipping though the thread. The LT still doesn't look that aggressive imo.

To be clear, everything I've been referencing is for the "aggressive" side. Mine are mounted with the "aggressive" side out.

Wait... so now there is aggressive and non-aggressive SIDES?!

So confused... What are "Flotation" tires? Is that the SL one? And LT = E rated right?

edit: Looking at Discount Tire's website for 265/70R17 (what and likely where I'd be purchasing), there is the load range selection of SL or E1, both only have Black Side Wall as the only option for sidewall, no OWL. Any idea what the sides would be like on those?

Floatation sizes are the ones in the 35x12.50r17 format. LT tires are LT regardless off load rating. C, D, E etc are all LT. Also looking at the picture again I just realized that the P/Euro Metric has more siping in the tread than the other tires.
