I went with the stock 265/65R17's as they weigh about the same as the TOYO Open Country A30's I took off...after 2 weeks I only lost about 1MPG and the XL's are as smooth on the pavement as the A30's were...went through a monster of a rainstorm Sunday morning and they tracked true with no hydroplaning. The other plus is that they are almost as quiet as highway treads at interstate speeds. So far, I'm really impressed with these Open Country A/T III's.

See my post above with these tires on the same wheels. approx 1.75-2 inch lift - no real issues with rubbing.

What's the highest number of miles any of you have on these so far? Thinking of getting some for myself but wondering how long they wear in real use. Also, for higher mileage people, how is the noise level as they wear?

I've got less than 10k on mine, but I can tell you they were kinda loud for the first 500 miles but quieted down after that.

Thanks. Yes - taller, heavier tires drop your RPM and are noticeable but you can get away with stock gears and 33's as long as you are not expected it to be as quick as it was stock. Once moving it's not really that obvious but you are going from a 38 lb tire to a 50 lb tire so it will make a difference. Depends on how much you can live with it. I live at 6K above sea level so power is already down, Add in our huge grades up to 11K and it was a struggle on those big climbs. OV tune helped for about a year but I finally bit the bullet and did gears. Best thing I did.

Thanks @Discount Tire for helping me out with the $100 off sale. So far so good but only have about 10 miles on them. 7DF69976-3525-493C-AB98-3874A1F2D945.jpg

Wow, your rig looks great! How did you manage the $100 off though? I've been keeping my eyes peeled for Discount to email me about promos on either Toyo or Falkens because it's time for new shoes...

I was wondering the same thing. If I can get a $100 discount, I’d buy some right now:anonymous:

DTD often runs $100 off specials. Subscribe to their emails. This particular sale was only offered through Discount Tire Direct and not through the local stores. The @Discount Tire helped me go through my local store for ordering and install. I would expect something again by the end of May.

If you are in the western states, Point S tire (similar to a Les Schwab chain) has had a Toyo buy 3 get 1 free deal in the fall for the past few years. I was very pleased.

I really like these AT3s so far. Softer ride than the stock tires and look great.

How has SL held up for folks? I’m thinking of running these as my pavement tires but am concerned because I tow a 4,000 lbs boat package often...would the SLs hold up to tow duty?
