That’s good to hear as I’m thinking of going with the same tires/size on my Sport.

Just installed a set yesterday at @Discount Tire. Got rid of my 30K mile Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo 3’s that I’ve had for the last three years and have not once been a smooth ride down the highway. Despite having them roadforce balanced multiple times and even replacing two of the four tires at Firestone.

Previously had the KO2 on their 2016-2019 for 50K and they were perfectly balanced.

Got the Open Country AT III in 265/70/17, took 3 hours in total after I found out the first time they had installed 285/70/17 on my stock suspension truck. They put them on and said hey I notice those really rub sir! And I was like, no, they should not rub having had 265/70/17 for the last 90,000 miles…. Got out to the truck went around the block and came right back after looking at the sidewall, the issue was pretty obvious. Haha.

After getting the right size tires on and re-balancing several times they were able to get them to roadforce to 10lbs or less on all four, which is amazing. I was asking for 14 or less. Seems it’s completely or at least mostly fixed the vibration issues I’ve had since 2019 going down the highway. They look pretty good too to boot. A lot more aggressive than the Bridgestone’s. Not quite KO2 level sidewall but very good and at least $200 less for the set in the same size. So far happy but I’m only about 50 miles in, we’ll see how they hold up long term!

Going up to 34s and my only available choice is Nitto Ridge Grappler or Toyo Open Country AT3 in 305/70R17, used the search function to no avail for this tire size. Anyone out there running 305/70R17 in this tire with photos? Don't really want to do 285/75R17 as it looks too skinny from the front for me personally.

Thank you for your business! We are sorry to hear they put the wrong size on but it sounds like you caught it and it was resolved.

I'm curious about that as well. My KO2's that were LT/Load C as well as my Bridgestone's were running about 35 PSI. Noticed DT put the Open Country's (mine are SL for weight savings) at 40 PSI. Took my first drive down the turnpike running mostly 80MPH and it's 93 degrees outside and they were running 42 PSI with one hitting 43. Sidewall does indeed state 44 max PSI so that has me rather concerned for when we get back well over 100 and in the sun it could easily pass 44. Thinking I'll decrease to 35 here in the summer and see how it does. MPG was 16.5 per computer after 235 miles on the turnpike. About average and the same I'd get with my last set. Stock truck w/tune but man these Taco's sure don't like high speeds, haha.

    upload_2022-7-31_17-15-40.jpg

Very welcome! We just got a bad puncture in the sidewall of our Subaru last night so it looks like I'll be right back in there tomorrow as luck may have it. Noticed there's 225/60/17's of this same tire that would totally fit our Crosstrek, but since it's the highway queen we take interstate from KS to CO often I'll shoot for something like the Michelin Defender 2's.

This is actually the second time I've had the wrong set put on my truck. The first time I got tires in 2016 I ended up with E-load KO2's instead of C-load, came back the next week for the right ones as the truck felt abnormally sluggish with the extra weight I simply didn't need. But, mistakes happen. Both instances they were the right brand/model of tire, just not quite the right exact spec. I assume it's just because someone else must've had a similar order and they were setting in the store and got thrown on. All good though!

The Defenders would be a solid choice for mainly highway usage, there are some other options that would work well also.

That is unfortunate to hear. We certainly appreciate your positive outlook on the situation however we should be checking the product before installation occurs, we would like to get some more details. PM on the way.

Anybody have these in 35x11.5 17?
Weird they are available on a few tire sites but aren’t listed in toyo’s site

Are these better than the Nittos? My Nitto RGs have dry rotted just a year or two in. I am thinking about changing tires and TOYOs Open Country was another option.

Well Nitto is own by Toyo and made in the same plants so I would say you might get similar results unless they changed compounds.

Thanks for the feedback. Perhaps I should look into Cooper.

I just put a set of these on after being a little disappointed with BFGs, and these tires are pretty loud. I read this whole thread and only a handful of folks complained about noise and most are E range tires and for the most part, most folks say this are pretty quiet.. Even when compared to OEM wranglers.

Not sure why my set is so loud. I have a new 22 TRD sport, and running 4R TRD Sema wheels. I have the 265/70/17 size in SL load. The noise starts around 30mph and you can definitely hear that it's the tires.

I'll give the tires a few days, but if these are this loud, I may go back to KO2s. I'm running 32 psi cold front and rear.

10 000 KM Update. Tires continue to perform well. Drove on wet roads and heavy rain last week at highway speeds. No issues with hydroplanning and there was lots of standing water and ruts filled with water. Fuel mileage is great. Tires have gotten quieter with a few more kilometers on them. Two thumbs up from me.

Noise hasn't been an issue with my SLs. The tone/pitch was definitely different (higher) than my previous tires, which was noticeable right away... But after a while, you get used to it and don't notice it anymore :)

I have just over 30,000km on my tires now. Have done tons of road trips, offroad through sharp rocks and shale, mud, rivers etc. No signs of any cracking or dry rot. Wear is even, I rotate every 8000km religiously.
Had 0 issues in heavy rain.
Have put this through winter last year and had no problems whatsoever. Looking forward to another reliable winter

Noise is about the same as when I first got them. Maybe a tiny bit louder than stock but nothing that is annoying.

    I average 10.6l/100km per tank
Below is a pic from my trip back home from an overlanding trip.

I did a road trip with some dirt this past labor day weekend and yes on some roads the tire noise is pretty low, but for the most part there is a constant whine and hum. It didn't bother my wife much, but not something I want to endure on my new truck. Having them swapped back to bfgs today.

I'll be interested to hear your thoughts on the diffenence, given both sets were/will be basically new, and you'll have a solid baseline!

Crazy how I don't notice any louder sound at all. And if wife says something, I turn the music up a little louder

i have had a lot of different AT tires. these are right in the middle in terms of noise. anyone who wants real noise... run a set of aggressive, cheap mud terrains haha. sounds like an airplane taking off at all times
