    Work in progress...
Get a pair of .50 inch spacers for the front, good for 1" front lift. that will cost you about 50 bucks if you install yourself. Add an alignment for about 100 bucks. Just my thoughts, if you were asking.

You are completely right! Do the same thing in lifting the truck but wrong in how they fail. A spacer on the strut pushes it down and now the control arm is no longer the stopping point. In return the strut can’t handle the load of the downward motion of the vehicle so the failure is the strut the weak link. The preload collar on Westcott Designs does not change the bottom out point of the control arm or the TRD PRO Fox strut from its factory design so it’s not possible to fail like a spacer lift. I have one of these kits and it was designed to accommodate a larger tire and keep as close to factory ride as possible, Also not damage any factory parts or break the bank when wanting to lift it and keep the factory suspension after spending $50k for a truck.

At the price point the TRD-PRO's fall in (~$2800), its full pants-on-head retarded in the same way putting block spacers on a KING suspension would be. It makes literally no sense at all why anyone is arguing for this to be a good thing let alone even necessary.

If you bought a TRD-PRO and want to modify your truck to fit 33"+ tires, you simply need to sell your massively expensive progressive-rate, position sensitive OEM shocks, and buy Kings or something to that effect. The TRD-PRO suspension simply was not engineered for Changes to the disposition of the shock body. There is an objective undeniable reality that at or near 2" of lift, you begin to max out the OEM alignment cams and shortly there after the Upper control arms. All it takes is a simple print-out of your alignment specs, or a quick look at your lower control arms to see reality for what it is.

Point has been made here! You are someone that is bored and does not have a clue. You just run your mouth with no proof or anything to back it. Moving on.

How do you think LC's, 4runners, Jeeps, superduties and any other coil suspensions achieve lift? You don't need a shock to lift a vehicle but you do need a coil or spring.

    Stop being so dramatic

Been a LONG time since I added someone to my ignore list.

He's a troll that does this in other threads. Pretty much ruins any reasonable discussions.

I'd say worse; at least the 427AP offers the AAL in the rear, opposed to rear blocks.

I'm strongly considering doing this to my truck. My main thoughts are that there are other things I want to do that I know will serve me better right now (bed rack and roof top tent) but would like to get some beefier tires without having to spend a few thousand on a proper lift for at least a little while. Would you recommend going this route for a temporary lift?

100%, Jeff's kit is solid and will let you throw on 285s no issues.

What sort of price do you think I should be looking for just the installation?

Could do yourself pretty easy, but maybe 2 hours max, so $180-200, and then whatever alignment costs.

I was quoted 4 hours at a pretty reputable shop out here.. which would be like $500 for install alone. Im gonna call around and see what I can find. Thanks man!

I knocked out my few lifts on my 11, 15 and 19 in the driveway which included UCAs and rear leafs and that took about 6-8 hrs, any reputable shop should be able to get it done in 2-3 hours, but as you know most will try to pad the hours, no prob!
