Dilemmas.... I have a 2011 mag grey quad cab trd off road. Need a 4x4. I have my own buisness and its a great tax write off to get a truck over 6000 gvwr (i.e. raptor or fx4). I love my taco but 2 off my buddies have raptors. What should I get? 2012 taco sport 4x4, Ford Raptor or Ford 5.0 FX4 4x4. If I get the taco I could prob drop $5-10K to make it more off road worthy. The raptor or fx4 would prob leave alone.

"if" i got the ford fx4, i wouldn't get the 5.0. i'd get the ecoboost. that engine is pure badassness.

raptor - google "frame bent" and you won't buy one. wtf was ford thinking on this one?

    tacoma - i wouldn't bother trading an '11 for a '12. what's the point?

If you can justify the cost the Raptor is badass. My friend has one.
I do not need one because my Tacoma does what I need quite well so selling it for low and spending a bunch plus mods on a Raptor is not worth it to me.

I owned a 2010 raptor 6.2. And while it is an off road demon, it doesn't do anything else well. The transmissions shit without a chip, off road mode takes a NASA employee to get correct (if you have trailer sway), no storage, no payload, ohh and I got 9 mpg.

But, the raptor is a head turner. Looks means hell, and sounds badasss also.

I'm back to Tacoma because they are versatile and cheap when you figure in resell value.

Not trolling here guys. If any of you own a buisness section 179 has a huge write off this year at 100% bonus depreciation. Its a great incentive and used to be called the "Hummer Loop Hole". I live in south texas and the back roads including south padre island require a 4wd. My pre runner has been stuck way to many times. I love the taco but the tax write off is tempting.

Good to hear from someone who has been to the dark side. Both of my buddies have the 5.4 and are getting around 14mpg.

Not everyone qualifies for 100%, are you sure that you would? Also, the amount of negative equity in the truck now would be ridiculous. Yes, you may say that it is paid off, but taking a 7-8,000 $ hit for owning a truck for 1 year is stupid. The best business move would be to keep what you have. More than likely section 179 will be back next year.

I attended Raptorfest and they were letting folks catch some air with them to a point.
As we know people will jump them much higher than they are designed for.
I will not launch my Tacoma because I know that the outcome might be bad.
If you want a Trophy Truck bring a cool million and buy one.

eco boost. How much do you save through 179? Full deduction of a 50k truck?

You can save UP TO 100% of NEW equipment purchases. You have to talk with your accountant to find out how much you can write off.

I should qualify for about an 80% write off as I travel between several practices all about 30 mi from home. Problem is taco doesnt qualify for the larger deduction because it's gvwr is under 6000 lbs. Another option is to go with the 6 ft bed which should also qualify it.
