My thoughts exactly. I have always bought insurance and never bought extended. I drive carefull and stay with in manufactorers recomendations. If this toyota fails me I can survive the repairs but I think I can speak for most here. I buy toyota cause they very very seldom fail. I would be giving a dealership a huge tip if I bought the extra warranty. I have always found that insurance is so easy to buy and so hard to claim.

You can purchase the Toyota extended warranty at any time until your 3/36 is up. There are threads here that list dealers who sell toyota platinum plans at a fraction of what the Finance guy will pitch.
You can even tell them if you choose & instantly their price magically changes .......

On my 2006 I waited...I did have some issues with my truck & wanted to keep it so I bought a toyota plan off Troy in Greenfield MA @ the 35,600 mile mark for like $800.
My first time ever buying an extended plan on a toyota truck...owned one since 1987.
I did cover a repair before trading the truck in 2011.
Cashed in the remainder of plan getting $425 back.

On my 2013 Tacoma, I did go with the dealer undercoating only because my 2006 undercarriage looked horrible!
Absolutely didn't want to drive it off the lot in January on salty roads whatsoever.
There are not many options local for me getting it done aftermarket.
The dealer shop did a great job & does yearly touch up.
Maybe I threw $$ away ....:notsure:

I have added weathertechs, a tonneau, snow tires, & am going for front seat covers
in the GB that is happening now.
eventually I want a bed mat too. Then that is it lol!

Thanks to all that contributed to my thread . I got my Taco TRD . Of course I love it. I havent bought alot of new in my day. Raised 3 kids they are all out on their own now I have 9 grand kids and treated myself to this truck. I took the life insurance part so if it stays and I go my son can have it free and clear. I passed on every other extra I am getting a bug shield from Weatertech and their window deflectors. Thanks to the person that suggested them as well as others that contributed to the process.
Also I want to say that the dealership Frank Dunn Toyota Prince Albert Sk. Canada was a great place to buy a vehicle. Zero pressure and when I said I wanted something or didn't want something they listened and respected my choice.

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
    That's great, Bill.

Now buy a good wash mit and soap like maguiars wash and wax, it costs 3x more than cheap soaps but lasts 10x longer (so it's actually cheaper in the long run)

Then seal the paint with Maguiars NXT 2.0 [IMG]

    Now you're stylin'

No on all your considerations. In particular the extended warranty.

Get it undercoated but have it done somewhere else. Higher trade in value.
