I don't trust engineers, why I am still using dial-up, I grew up on having to use a land-line phone and dialing into an ISP to get my ultra fast 56kbps bandwidth and though many others have stated that new tech today can get me much faster network I just do not trust any of the tests... no thank you.. if it was good enough for my grampa it is good enough for me.

They bring it into the shop, look at it, and fill-out the paperwork which takes about as much time to do than if they were to actually do the work that the paper says needs to be done.

Now here is the rest of the story:

I changed my oil and filter when new at around 1200 miles, and replace it every 5k miles along with tire rotation and inspection. You can easily go the 10k mile schedule and keep the warranty in force if using the recommended oil.

There’s a lot of different opinions on the subject here and some folk get real agitated if you change it sooner without doing a lab test. The lab test is fine if you’re concerned about oil life, and it will tell you how much longer you can keep using it. But it wont tell you how much build of contaminants are accumulating inside the engine the longer the oil change interval is extended.

Moral of the story, it’s your vehicle, none of us here are going to help with the monetary expenses that may come if you replace it, or just leave it.

On a parting note, this is not from a forum, but from wikipedia (link below) that I would trust more than anyone on a forum, it will tell you a LOT about synthetic oil and how good it is.

Moreover, if you scroll all the way down under “PERFORMANCE”
    This is what it says:

“Oil needs to be changed because it gets contaminated with combustion by-products that accumulate at about the same rate regardless of oil type”

Please note; “regardless of oil type”

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Synthetic_oil

    Hope that helps

    Cheers!

Real talk: wikipedia is basically just a giant forum. Not the most reliable source of information in this or any other area. Just saying.

Nope, nowhere near it. That would take too long and that's money. Take it from someone in that business. Run, tested while moving and out the door it goes. I don't work for Toyota. Another manufacturer and I have a 2020 Tacoma on order, take that for what you will.

Yeah, anything that can be edited by the general populace is inheritably questionable in factual substance. This is the same general populace that cannot name the capital of their own state.....

If you are luck enough to have one with a timing cover leak, you just need to add oil every once in a while.

Before installed, only a handful. After installed, where i work does and I'd venture to say all manufacturers do a rolling-road/dyno test for a fast validation, parameter setting, turbo adaption, verifying no boost/vacuum leaks, knocking, AC perfomance (digitally via temp sensors) and stuff like that.

Still not a break-in like people think it is.

Nor has any engine ever failed due to oil changes at the proper intervals with the correct oil. Seriously man?
