I see some tacomas without fender flares have this problem where the plastic front bumper cover is pushed in and not even at all with the metal fenders and looks like garbage. My truck has 500 miles under it and Toyota says my truck looks within tolerance but looks like shit to me. This is not my truck but this is the best example I can find as I'm not home with my truck for a few days. If I switch the brackets out how can I get that to line up better? It looks like garbage because the plastic bumper is pushed in on both sides where it meets the metal fender.

Sucks on a brand new truck but if Toyota won't fix it I will myself I just need some advice on how to. No damage. Was like this since day 1 and got worse as I drove it. Dealer doesn't care. Toyota corporate said even though it looks bad it's within tolerance which to me looks like garbage. Thank you

Generally there is a bit of wiggle room for adjustment of fit. I would try repositioning bracket before replacing

Is there any video or guide to do that? I googled but maybe I'm using the wrong words. It seems like the bumper is pushed in and not even with the metal like at all on either sides. The metal fender sticks out above the plastic bumper cover about a quarter of an inch. It looks very bad will get pics when I'm home.

The problem is, any time you detach that bumper from its mounting bracket, it only gets worse. At least your gap looks linear/even. I'd leave it and live with it. Wait until you get your first scratch or dent, you will forget all about that gap.

You aren't kidding. I was washing my truck with the high pressure wand at the car wash last week, the water hit a pinhole sized rock chip in the paint and it's now a paint bubble on my otherwise pristine bumper.

I’m stumped. Only suggestion would be to talk to a body shop. There has to be some degree of adjustment available.

I thought it was just me. I don't see the issue either.

My advice is to take it to a body shop that does high end restorations. Most of those spend lots of time making gaps perfect.

When you get pricing on that you might decide you can live with it.

Another option is replacing it with a metal bumper.

No I got that, but you posted the picture as best example and I honestly can't see it. Maybe it's more obvious on your truck.

i have a trd sport with 24K miles. the joints between the fenders and bumper were tight at first. recently i noticed they opened up some, and are now noticeably wider at the top, about 1/8-3/16 inch. the bumper was not hit and i do not off road.

point being, these trucks are not assembled very well, and if i were you i'd live with it.

Unfortunately there is a lot of weight being carried by that side bracket. It comes down to a slightly poor design by Toyota when it comes to mounting this bumper. If there were stronger attaching points at the front/top this would be less of an issue. The bumper is held on by mostly clips, instead of actual bolts/screws. I modify Tacomas for a living, and have removed this bumper cover dozens of times.

Don’t you have a long history of nitpicking your new trucks in an OCD manner, then selling them, buying another and starting the whole cycle again?

A quick search results in YES. My lord this dude is picky.

Not to be rude, but people like this OP is why I quit being a service writer, and went back to being a mechanic. Dealing with this in person is so stressful.
