This is my first post! I just got a 2012 mini Taco with manual trans. I own a 2007 FJ Cruiser. The Taco is my commuter and weekend project vehicle. So far I am disappointed in the poor mpg. I only have like 600 miles on it, and I am getting around 16 mpg all city driving the first 2 tanks. That is about what my FJC gets. The sticker said 21 mpg city. I put a K and N air filter in and my stock tires are at 33 psi. I am seriously hoping that gets better. I am not sure how much improvement I can expect once the engine breaks in?

08 ACC 4x4 29K miles. All city driving with winter gas 14.8 / summer 16.2./ Hwy empty winter 18.5 w/2 dirtbikes 17.5. Summer Hwy empty 19-21 empty w/2 bikes 18./ Hauling the trailer with 1 bike in truck 10.5-12.5 w/o the bike it's still the same with trailer

I run reg. fuel. Cost per mile is slightly less then w/ premium which give better mpg but cost more.

The only time I use premium is when I'm hauling the trailer. The 4.0 is designed to have max power with 91 oct or above, and I can feel the difference between reg and prem when hauling.

    IT'S ALL GOOD!!:)

    YUP!

    V-6, Automatic, Double Cab, 4WD, U.S. ethynol-gasoline mix:

This is the true city mileage for these trucks... 15 mpg.

On the highway, it jumps to 18 mpg... and if you baby it, 19+ mpg.

I am happy anytime it is over 16 mpg!

This was true of my 2005 Tacoma, as well... 16.5 mpg average, always.

You have a sticker that says 21 mpg CITY??? Nope, that would be a strectch.

My 2010 sticker has city at 16 (20 Hwy.)... and my 2005 was 17 (21 Hwy.). I still have both stickers.

I cant seem to top 16 in my new one :(

I think its a mixture of my driving habits, where I drive (Hilly, not much highway), and the winter gas. I'd love to hit 18!

My average tank was about 18.5 MPG at first in my 11 TRD Sport DC LB 4X4. Recently I have been averaging around 20 MPG (last fill up I did the math and it was 20.6 MPG. Tank before that it was 19.7). I have my tires aired to 32 PSI and a campershell. I have a KIWI (PLX Device) and my truck has two sweet spots where I have great fuel economy: 33 - 36 MPH and 48 - 52 MPH. My RPMs are sitting below 15's at those speeds.
So, yes, you can definitely obtain better MPG over the life of the truck if you learn the sweet spots for your particular truck and travel around those speeds. In a 35 MPH zone I do 35. In a 45 MPH zone I do approx 50 because it is saving me fuel over doing the speed limit. On the freeway...I am not saving any fuel.

My sticker does say 21 mpg city. Keep in mind I got a single cab manual 2 WD 4 banger. I did expect to get that, too. Now, my FJ with the V6 auto trans gets about the gas mileage you are getting.
