I've read a bunch of things on the net, specifically posts on bobistheoilguy.com regarding a oil incidident I had earlier this week after buying my new '13 Tacoma.

I thought I'd be safe rather than sorry so I checked my oil after I drove it off the lot. Could hardly read the oil on the dipstick (wish I would of known to check oil first thing in the morning) so I added a quart. Drove a whopping 1 mile back to home after adding it. Well the next morning I checked the oil and sure enough it was a quart too much (about 3/4 inch - 1 inch above the max fill dot). So I drained out the excess oil and its good now.

So I guess my major concern is did I mess anything up?? Especially it being a brand new engine??? Remember I only drove 1 mile at about 30-40 mph at low rpm.

Thank you all... sorry to be the idiot to do something like this! :(

At that distance and speed I wouldn't be worried about it. Congrats on the new truck.

I have the same problem, can't tell but I left it alone, I guess if I don't have oil the lamp on the dash would light up right?

Don't go by the light. Once the light comes on your dangerously low on oil. The light is for low oil pressure.

Just to be clear, according to the manual you should check your oil about 5 minutes after running the engine.

Thanks for the help guys. Just wanted to ease my concerns! And Moondeath, I did indeed check the oil 5 minutes after running and it was the same. Had to keep the dipstick out for the 5 min to let the oil go down the dipstick tube
