Well, maybe not new, but newish. I purchased a 2012 DC PreRunner late last December (had 13K miles on it), trading in a 2001 Tacoma Xtra Cab 4x4 and today, just found that someone had stolen the tailgate to my newish truck! They probably took it because it had a back-up camera. Unbelievable.:(

    .
Crap, sorry to hear that, tailgate theft is a pretty consistent issue on this forum. Good luck man and welcome from Norcal!

What a bummer, hopefully they didn't mess up your camera wiring.

    Welcome to TW.

I'm doing the tail gate mod tonight.... not worth the hassle.

And to fix the problem for 2$ it's worth it!!

Thanks for the greetings, info and sentiment. Nothing was damaged. They did a clean steal. I knew about the pop & lock, but didn't know of the tailgate mod. I didn't know these were a "hot" topic. Thanks for the link, NWTG!

First, welcome to TW from VA.
Second, tailgate theft for some reason, is pretty common. Even if you have an alarm on your truck, it won't go off when someone messes with the tailgate. People seem less inclined to mess with them if you have a shell like I do. If you get a new tailgate, you can get one with the pop and lock, and also do Chris's cheap (yet highly effective) mod.
