I guess my point was that as long as Toyota continues to protect their sales price, my investment in a Tacoma is better than a FS, regardless of the sticker price. Whether the price stays the same or increases next year, I have some background telling me that my investment will retain greater value over time.

Take my 2007 Tacoma vs a 2007 Tundra for example. They spec out at roughly the same resale value given the same condition and option specs. My truck was 10k+ under the sticker price of the tundra, but is now worth the same... Better return on investment. I don't care if they raise the price or not, the resale value will move incrementally along with it.

I believe him as my buddy bought a 2013 Eco-Boost 4x4 with one of the upper level packages that stickered for $54K. He wrote a check for $41K including T.T.D. and drove the truck home without a trade.

Problem here is that Ford bulds crap trucks that they are willing to give away to get rid of. Toyota sells every truck they can build so you're going to pay for what you're getting.

I have a 2015 Pre-Runner being built next month and the base price went up $200 over ones just coming in now.
Toyota raising price now to take the sting off the 2016's?

I will happily pay 2-3 thousand more for a 2016.

Nicer newer interior with better accessories.
    Better ride
    Newer more fuel efficient engine
    List goes on...

The gas mileage savings alone will offset the addition cost over the lifetime of the vehicle.

Im not advocating a GM vehicle, in fact I traded mine after 2 months of ownership for another taco, but by this logic you can get a Silverado with similar equipment for $35k OTD after rebates (less than a 2016 Taco likely) and get the same if not better gas mileage, I averaged 20 in the city, 24-25 hwy with my 2014 Sierra with the 5.3L ecotec 4wd, etc., and you getting a full size. The gap between full-size and mid-size is getting closer and closer.

Builds after 1/31 have a $200 increase in MSRP. This from the internet/fleet sales guys and inventory manager I'm currently working with. I don't think it is dealer fibbing, but rather coming right from Toyota.

So if you can find something on the lot or soon to be delivered that matches your desired specs you'll get a slightly lower price. If you are ordering something specific that will have a build date after 1/31 you'll pay $200 more.

That looks to be what I'll be doing - having trouble finding the "right" truck at any regional dealers and there isn't anything in the dealer allocation that is a close enough match to be built before 1/31.

I have a 3/4 ton Dodge Ram for work, I don't need nor do I want a fullsize as my daily driver.

I bet nearly everyone on the site chose a Tacoma because it is smaller than a fullsize, not because they couldn't afford a full size.

I never thought the dealer was messing with me as the sticker is Toyota generated.
On a side note I have found the truck I want coming to another dealer with a better discount and the lower base price.
Hope to be driving it by this weekend.

It is the American pricing game. Mark way up to mark back down and make people feel like they are getting a deal. On a domestic I expect 20% off MSRP minimum on a Toyota 10%. It is not just auto dealers. Do some research on Kohl's. I bought my daughter a set of pots and pans for xmas. Kohl's had sale price of $159.99 and regular of $229.99. I bet they have never sold one at the higher price. You can buy these pans online any time at Kohl's sales price. The only reason I bought was I had a coupon for 30% off.
