Hey guys. I just got a new automatic 2018 trd off road 4x4 in cement last month. I have about 1800 miles. My truck got stuck in park today. It would turn on and id shift into drive but it wouldn’t move. I tried shifting in and out of park and I heard a weird clicking sound. I even turned the engine on and off and it was still stuck in park. I finally put the car in reverse then back into drive and it finally got out of park. Is it worth taking my truck in to get checked or was this just a freak thing? The car is running fine now. Little pissed because this my first Toyota and the main reason why I went with Toyota is because of reliability. I was hoping I wouldn’t have to worry about little things like this so soon

Take it in. Explain what happened. Get your tranny fluid checked

No no no, you are mistaken sir.

The kazoo sound comes from the front door seals at warp speed.... or with a strong crosswind.

Seriously though, the diff whine is a thing. No TSB for me, as I have an access cab :(

Did it say "D" in the center display when you shifted into D?

Have you washed it recently then engage the parking brake overnight? Sometimes the rear hubs can get frozen under certain conditions.

THIS - Your transmission fluid is low.
This is a classic symptom, and from what others reported, it is about a quart low.

My 2008 does that too. I try to drive it at less 10 miles after I wash it in the cooler months.

Happened to my friend, the dealership ended up flushing his tranny fluid and he never has the issue since.
