    Hello all,

Just put $ down to hold this baby waiting on my title to come in the mail so I can finish trade in procedure.

This is an ARE shell, I was wondering if anyone ever took their shell to a dealer to have it modified? Will an ARE dealer put in outdoorsman windows and line it with carpet? Will it cost a fortune?

I've seen people DIY install windows I think I could handle that but I'm no sure about the carpet.

Also you know when you just get something and you want it to be nice lol.

So I'm not sure how I'll be going forward to have the shell the way I want it.

Any ideas or tips of how you'd go about modifying this shell would be great.

Nice, that one has a toolbox built in. Looks like a solid door on the right too, not a windoor. I'm a huge fan of having a built in side toolbox, my ARE MX has that on the driver side and it's my favorite mod on the truck. The convenience of having all my tools and gear right there is awesome. I'd try what you have, you'll probably like it just fine and not need upgrades.

That said, the ARE dealer will do replacement windows, but the cost is exorbitant. Windoors themselves are ~$200 a pop, you can expect at least half that in installation per side. ~$500-600 total would be reasonable. The toolbox on the left removes easily, no big deal there.

Adding carpet afterwards isn't reasonable or economical. You have to remove the front and two side windows to do it right. You could DIY it, but it's a major hassle.

It would be BY FAR cheapest to sell the shell and rebuy a used one with the features you want. That may take a year of watching Craigslist, but one will come up eventually. Again, I'd roll with the topper you have. That topper already has solid flip up doors on the side and the toolbox on the left, which both are ridiculously functional for a rig.
