I'm seriously considering selling my 09 ACLB and getting a new cement pro. The local dealer has a little marked off. $45,111 I think. Are there really that better with the fox shocks?

You can buy a fox shock kit for a TRD OR for less than the cost of the "pro" upgrade. Truly, only do the Pro if you are willing to pay top dollar for the additional styling. That's really what it's all about. Really great looking trucks, but not worth it if your only goal is suspension.

Cement will be available on all models for 18's if that's what floats your boat.

The Pro fox shocks on the pro are well worth the investment if you don't want a 2.5"+ lift. As others have said, if you don't mind the lift and are only after the shocks on the pro then Fox aftermarket will be cheaper, but they are not the same internal valving.
For 2017, the Pro was worth it for me as I wanted factory leather, fox shocks and no sunroof. (Body color / Lights / Styling) I couldn't give a shit about. For 2018 it would be a tougher decision since you can get the same Pro factory leather (without the stupid red stitching) on the offroad. So it would come down to the sunroof delete as the only benefit I saw, personally. Fox from the pro would be my personal preference over the aftermarket Fox, but not sure that would be worth it cost wise once you add up the Offroad options since Dealers are far more lightly to deal on an offload than a pro. But going by MSRP price ONLY, the Pro would still be worth it, since it's only a few K difference once you add up all the options. (40k vs 42k)

Get a Trd off-road, pro overpriced and the only thing it can give you that the offroad doesn’t isn’t a suspension, which is only slightly better than the offroad’s, that most people end up switching out for a better one anyways. Save yourself the money and upgrade the parts yourself

Going aftermarket doesn't mean you have to have the truck sit higher than stock though does it? Can't you just set the coils to zero lift?

    No.

You can get a TRD Off Road with JBL & sunroof for cheaper then add better suspension.

TRDPRO is a overpriced marketing scheme for Toyota.

I didn't pay much more than guys on here with a loaded out OR. I will say the only thing I wish the truck had is JBL though, but I am really glad I don't have sunroof (which also is unavailable on the pro.) That $45K seems high. Try to get them closer to $41K.

TRD PRO retails for $41 with manual and $43 with auto, so yeah, seems a bit on the high side.

I haven't seen a quality aftermarket setup were you can get it stock (ish) height without taking all the pre-load out of the coil, which isn't all that desirable. There is a preferred stroke that the shock wants to be in, if you are always at the top or bottom of the stroke under normal driving (maxing or mining) out the ride height, that's not all that great either. I've just looked at aftermarket Fox and Kings, there is no other option I'd consider for a Truck that you want to take offroad.

I agree. Go with the TRDOR, depending on how serious you plan to mod, you may be able to get away with and even lower trim 4x4 then upgrade from there.
Also, stay with the ACLB. I regret my DCSB purchase...

Exact same argument can be made for the offroad. Buy an SR5 add front and rear lockers and you have a far more capable vehicle than the offroad for less money.

Trim for trim, I'd just install aftermarket suspension instead of buying a pro for the price difference.

If I was to get a Pro I think it would have to be a 4Runner Pro... they look amazing and seems very functional and it can immediately be recognized as a Pro. For 45k+, 4Runner Pro for me, maybe next time around.. just my opinion.

For the Taco I am more than happy with my TRD Off Road.

Don't get me wrong Pro Taco's are badass but I just don't see my self spending 45k on a taco.

As per the build and price section of toyota:
2017 Tacoma TRDOR DCSB w/the "basoc" tech package to put it on par with the tech in the pro, and no accessories: MSRP $38,140
2017 Tacoma TRD Pro: MSRP $43,215

    Price difference: $5,075

What do you get for the 5k difference?
    Pro trimmed leather seats
    Rigid Industries fog lights
    Pro Skid Plate
    Fox Shocks
    TRD Pro cat-back exhaust
    Blacked out front/rear lights
    TRD Pro Wheels
And a some other knickknacks, but those really are the important things.

If you plan on taking it on roads (or lack there of) less traveled, you're probably going to swap out your skid plate for a full skid set, and your shocks for something even better. You'll see a lot of people bash on the Pro for what it costs, and they aren't wrong, but they certainly aren't right either. So you get a Pro and swap out stuff anyways, now you have quality backup parts! It's your money, buy what makes YOU happy. I wrestled between getting a OR and a Pro, but I decided on the Pro because I wanted the lights and the interior. Yes, if I was just going 100% logical in trying to save as much money as possible and didn't care about the aesthetics then I would have definitely gone with the OR. So make a decision based on what makes sense for you and yours. Everyone has their opinions. Take them with a grain of salt.

Except the Tundra and 4R pro are bilsteins. Nothing wrong with bilsteins on road, but IMO they are awful offroad and might even be just the Toyota branded junk bilsteins. The Pro on those two vehicles really is just cosmetics.

How is an SR5 more capable? 75 pounds lighter?

My Icons only gave me a tasteful lift of about 1.5 inches. So far it's been ideal for me -- I don't need a ladder to get into the truck and the extra clearance is perfect for avoiding rocks on the trail. As soon as I wear out the stock tires, I'll probably put the 4runner 17" TRD wheels on and gain another half inch or so.

It’s funny how the “god honest truth” from one Tacoma owner is “Fake news” to another. I love my stock Toyota Bilsteins. Never ridden on better shocks off-road, but they are a bit “wallowy” on-road. When they fail, I’ll be buying more. Anyways.......humans are great. Celebrate the differences.
