Good luck! You have an Off Road at the least so maybe that will help. I think a better/bigger dynamic damper would help with the howl even more. But that’s just a guess. They aren’t very big pieces to begin with.

Sounds good. Please keep us posted so others with the same issues can benefit as well. I agree that the corner area seems to be where the sound is getting through. Best of luck!

Like I posted elsewhere, I had a leaky diff on my off road. I'm very familiar with the speil toyota gives you for having a problem that does not affect your model in Toyota's eyes. CPK is another one I missed, but probably should address. There have been examples in this thread where long bed owners have had the short bed tsb applied to though.

I did. Dampers both sides and both leafs replaced. Plus the insulation on the inside.

The “insulation” is a joke. Just some flimsy pieces of open cell foam. I still put it in there though ha Didn’t fill like shipping back out. The dampers definitely carry the weight of the fix.

Just curious - I wonder if there is a better form if C pillar insulation/padding that would do a better job? I think the dampers are doing the brunt of the work but maybe better padding would help....

Same boat here, nothing official for Access Cabs AFAIK.

Was using cruise on the highway the other day and it settled right into the howl sweet spot lol. Sang like crazy until I bumped the speed up a bit.

Took my truck in Friday to get the TSB performed. Left with a steering wheel tilted to the right accompanied with a pull in the same direction. Took it back today and dealer said that they moved the steering column two splines over to correct the steering wheel position as well as a 4 wheel alignment. Thrust angle measures 0.10 degrees now. Now I'm curious if the truck was aligned poorly from the factory or if the dealer band aided it. Should I fight back to get a 0 degree thrust angle?

Something doesn’t sound right at all. Was your steering position off to begin with? I’d take it back and have them fix it, especially if it pulls right now.

I agree. Everything was fine when I took it in, steering wheel was straight and no pull. After the TSB was performed the wheel was tilted right and truck pulled right. Already took it back today and that's when they "aligned" it and told me they relocated the steering wheel. I haven't driven it enough since I just got it back late today so I don't know if it's still pulling to the right. Still, it doesn't seem right that they removed and reinstalled the rear axle which caused the alignment to be off and then changed the steering column to fix it. I really don't want to waste more time trying to get the dealer to do the job right a 3rd time and just wanted to hear what everyone else has to say.

This doesn’t sound right at all. Maybe some others will chime in but I’d take it back and call BS on them. I haven’t read the whole TSB but don’t recall relocating the steering wheel in it.

Mine went in Tues morning. Might get it back Wed afternoon. They gave me a rental...The lady at the desk asked what do i drive and i said a Tacoma. She grinned and laughed. I asked why was that funny to which she replied because all we have left are Corollas and i'm sure you don't want that. I laughed and said it wouldnt be my first choice.

If you want to drive something with ZERO low end torque, this is the car. Our Tacos are quicker off-the-line for sure. I think my fat ass could out run it for the first 50 yards on foot.

Parts finally came in & mine is in today. OR longbed but the papers they gave me do mention springs...I won't get it back until tonight but I'll update with my results.

Had my TSB done last Friday. 2016, DCLB Off Road. Didn't work. I still have the howl at 55mph. Got to enjoy it all weekend driving across NY. Thanks Toyota! Dealer says to bring it back in, but at this point I think I'm giving up.

It’s your decision but I’d encourage you to take it back in. If this gets enough attention they’ll get a permanent fix at some point (hopefully).

Mine is still much better. I installed Wheelers 3-leaf AAL on the new leaf pack and it’s still quiet. I can just barely hear the howl between 55-60. I’m happy.

So mine is much better - I can barely hear it now and just because I'm really trying to listen for it. As my paperwork stated, they did replace the springs even though the tsb didn't require it on my off-road. Also, to my surprise, evidently my differential showed signs of leaking so they did that recall work on it as well (replaced carrier seal & bolts, new fluid), even though my truck wasn't included in the recall. I had checked not that long ago and didn't see any oil leaking, so they either saw something I didn't when it was on the rack or just performed that work as a measure of safety.
