That's crazy-talk. I've owned a bunch of Toyota trucks, and I'd put the 3.0 squarely on the bottom. Head gasket made motor go boom at 100k miles and I went through 2 of those aluminum MAF things in 200k miles. It was also noisy and gutless. My 90 was my first brand new 4x4 and I loved it, but that motor wasn't great.

I've still got an 86 that is in great shape with a 22r. Driving it for a day makes you really LOVE the new truck. Toyotas have always been great and I love them all, but they're nicer to drive now than they've ever been. Just hope they still last as long.

I have to admit, and its pretty embarrassing, that I didn't realize the beds were composite. I assumed they just all came with the plastic bed liners standard (which I thought was pretty sweet). None of the research I did highlighted that, and I guess I never thought to ask.

I dont have a problem it. My mind was just blown when someone on here mentioned it. At least you never have to worry about it rusting.

Here is a Ridgeline video where they dump a bunch of landscaping blocks in the rear. No damage.

I have to agree here. Working on my past Fords, it wasn't unusual to break plastic parts when working on them. Today, I pulled the a/c control panel and radio so I could run the power wire for my gps behind them instead of having it in front of the radio. I watched a video online on how to do it. I ended up having to remove the center console also when one of the radio bolts fell down the abyss in front of the console. Never did find the dam* thing, using magnets and lights. Just replaced the bolt with a new one. They build all vehicles with those holes that eat everything you drop. NEVER did break a plastic part, though.

Yeah it's across the board in order to meet EPA standards, the use of Plastic, Aluminium, and Composites are only going to increase.

That's where the AM/FM antenna is located(notice the oval clean cut hole). My guess is something caught it(carwash, mad ex-wife?) and tore it back. Doesn't surprise me as its just thin aluminum sheet metal. Good thing ours are on the roof!

There is a pic somewhere of this truck as that Antenna was caught in an automatic carwash and there is deep scratches all the way down the side as well.....

Ah wow, I always thought people overreacted about the aluminum body on the F150s, but that is some scary shit if a car wash can rip your antenna out like that.

There is a Tacoma on here that some guy took thru an automatic car wash and it caved the bed side in, looked like he got run into by a truck, they keep making the metal thinner to reduce weight.

Lets face it the exterior on cars today even trucks is just a thin veil for looks. None of it is structural or going to protect you, its all the stuff underneath the pretty painted surfaces that matters. Still I would be pissed if a car wash did thousands in damage to my car like that.

Shocking I know... but you can drive a knife straight in, and pull right down. You could skin a door rather quickly.
