Looking to buy a new flatscreen at the sales coming up. I would like something large and Hd is a must. Ive seen a few here and there I like, I found this.

    http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=13022844&findingMethod=rr

Id like something like this. Im curious if anyone out there can lead me in the right direction on which picture quality and brand are best.

I read that I need a different AV cord to run my Xbox 360 at Hd quality, is this true? Im planning to get Black ops when I get my tv and I really want it in Hd picture.

My budget is 750 at most. Thankyou for the help guys.

i know to run your 360 at HD you will need a different cord thats correct. im running mine in HD and i got two cords for like 7 dollars at ross. but big name stores like best buy, target, and walmart charge about 20-30 for the same thing. and it is no better of quality.

To my knowledge there are only 5 companies that actually make lcd panels. With some research you can find out which manufacture's panels get branded which way.

A "clone" with a panel made by the same company may not be identical though. Sorta like buying an eibach spring, it isn't going to be exactly what you get on an icon CO, even if the coil on the CO is made by eibach. It's very common for a specific brand to have a panel run done to their specs. Off brands usually go the other route and let the manufacturer set the specs. Not always, but that's the most common method. You can also have problems with the backend electronics with an off brand. Not so much these days, but early in there life this was a very common problem with lcd television. I'm talking control system failures, audio glitches/pops, or the whole thing would freeze up and go blank. Not the panels fault the other electronics screwed up though.

If I remember correctly samsung uses panels manufactured by syntax, which also sells panels to something like 7-8 other companies.

To Gieser, glad you got a good one.

    I have:
    46" sharp 1080P 120 Hz
42" RCA 1080P 60hz <--- I use this the most since it fits in my TV entertainment center
    22" Samsung 1080P 60hz

you're gonna want the 1080P 120hz pretty much any brand but samsung, sharp, sony, and LG are the best...

Check out Target for some great deals... I was just there and saw several TVs under $700 (didn't have time to check out the specs)

You will need a HDMI ($ range from $10 to $50) cable to get full HD TV with xbox or any system

For the xBox 360, you can run the component video cables to one of your tv's inputs. Here's one for $19: http://www.cellxpo.com/SbCategory-all-all-Gamings-B4V_00004.asp

I also bought one of these since my TV only had one set of component video jacks:
    http://www.google.com/products/cata...log_result&ct=result&resnum=3&ved=0CB8Q8wIwAg#

It allows you to easily switch between inputs (dvd player, xbox, cable/sat) without disconnecting everything.

Ok THANKYOU for all the great help!

So basically if I stick with a 1080P 120hz Tv I should be ok.

I have a AV cord with a Hd switch on it and the other set of plugs like the ones pictured in the link, so I assume I dont need the other cord after all.

Im very excited about bringing it home friday and playing Black Ops about 15 hours straight. Hahaha.

    I love this forum.

Go as big as you can...dlp is always a great choice if you're not hanging it on the wall. Take a look at this chart...it shows that unless you're getting a big screen vs. your viewing distance, then it's a waste. I sit about 10' back and that's not much distance (I live in a condo) and my 65" doesn't even show the full benefit of 1080p.

AVS forum is a good place to check in on specific models. The 360 I'm borrowing is a newer model with an hdmi port - that is your best option, component video is your second best if you have an older 360.

Also, philips has had a crappy reputation for their screens. Samsung, sony, vizio are all pretty good. The contrast ratings on the screens are arbitrary and there's no standard, so I wouldn't buy based on that. LED doesn't make much difference unless it's an array/local dimming.
