When you say a fresh rebuild it depends on who did it.
If it’s high speed lab I would NOT buy it period, if it’s Jon Bond you can get the extra money if it was rebuilt recently 2500-2750.
If it was not done professionally and rotor bearing and rotor seals not replaced or rotors not recoated a lot less. 2000.00 range.

a spead sheet of all the repair work will bring more money, without that information a lot less

Yup the new charger came with a tensioner. That tensioner is probably $50.

Not sure on the FIC-6 in other applications, but as far as the 3.4 crowd, you are either URD 7th injector kit, or full standalone with the Haltech.

It would not be professionally rebuilt, just a new kit similar to what’s pictured IMG_2192.jpgDone by me.

As stated, the rotors are in good condition, maybe 85k miles if factory installed and same age as truck, a bit of chipping coating, but not much.

I’m weighing running the old or splurging on the new, I guess it’s worth what someone will pay for it, but I’d be happy getting a couple grand toward the 1320.

The question also becomes, why would someone buy the old TRD when they could get this newest version, the value greatly decreases as the new one gains word of mouth and the old one loses support.

Truly a case of can’t have your cake and eat it too

Very true, I sold my old TRD supercharger that was rebuilt by Jon bond with a year of miles on it for 2500.00.
I think the prices will keep going down just because a rebuild is getting more expensive each year and those rotor seal and bearing are on borrowed time if they are not replaced. I’ve had both the rotor seals and rotor bearings go bad on me before and created a lot of damage.
The 1320 bearing are rated at 20k and the old supercharger bears are at 15k so the 1320 will probably go much further before a rebuild and will run a lot cooler IMO

I’ve been paying attention since you stated in the supercharger thread that you were able to try the new 1320 and stated it doesn’t require as many fuel mods and runs cooler. I’d like to just skip the potential of any frustration if the MP62 causes issues and go with this more current option, guess I’ll have to weight things. May run the MP62 after I’m done with the work just because it’ll be too tempting not to, also good to see if it holds up to a bit of use, then can feel more confident I’m selling it and it is in good working order- I am definitely not out to screw anybody

I’m at 25k on the 1320 with no issues,

The 1320 has more potential for more power about 40HP + 40TQ more or so if u push it and that will require fuel moods,
It’s designed to put out about the same power as the MP62 only because of emissions and the stock fuel system can’t handle much more air, a high flow fuel pump and FMU will fix that problem tho and or 7th injector or haltech

@1997tacomav6 What's the difference in how often you're supposed to rebuild the SC between the 3 gen's? Found a 1st gen SC near me for 2k and I'm weighing my options.

Rebuilds are the about 100k -150k for the TRD1st, TRD 2nd and magnuson mp62 superchargers.
The 1320 will probably be much better as the bearing are rated higher at 20k instead of 15k and turns a lot slower and less heat.

I would NOT buy a 1st gen supercharger because there are NO case parts available for it. These early superchargers have lots of miles on them.
If you needed a new snout because the bearing race spun in it you would have a useless supercharger on your hands. This snout issue happened to me on my old 1st gen and was lucky to find a used snout. If you had to find one now I don’t think one would be lucky.
If it’s completely rebuilt by Jon bond it’s a deal otherwise it’s too expensive because a full rebuild is 1.5-2k. Typical the rotors will need to be replaced on these older versions and recoated because they probably have higher miles.
Most people rebuild these superchargers themselves by replacing a few bearings and this is far from a complete rebuild. Most the garage rebuilds can’t do the rotors seals or rotor pack bearings because you need special equipment, so essentially it’s still a supercharger on borrowed time if these are not replaced

Does anyone happen to know why the new supercharger is not applicable to a 96 Tacoma v6?

I have a 96 I would like to supercharge but it states it fits 97-04 tacomas

It's the ECU. Get a Haltech standalone ECU and not only will you be able to install the supercharger, but you'll get another 25-40HP over just the supercharger alone.

Yes haltech is the way to go if you can swing it, remember you should up grade the fuel pump, FMU, aem340, get injectors cleaned and serviced motor west for 135.00

I’d get larger injectors instead of using the stock flow injectors with an FMU.

If you have to do emissions u have two options, FMU works just fine, my duty cycle is around 80 percent and you don’t have to mess with injectors for emissions or you can get larger injectors that would be ideal but you will have to reinstall the stock injectors for emissions so you have to pull everything off twice.

there’s a good chance the cam and crank sensor might need to be replaced depending on your truck and go OEM if u do from dealership or DENSO website because of all the fakes, I had to replace my ground straps on my truck just because too.

my gas tank wire harness in the tank was all cracked going into the connector so I replaced it and the upper junction box connector too since it was all apart

So quick question: Will the Haltech ECU give 25-40 HP without changing the pulley size? I've done the SNP FMU, new fuel pump, colder spark plugs, and rebuilt OEM injectors from Motorwest. However, I have yet to change the pulley size or any additional mods. Guess I like the thought of turning fewer RPMs and maybe resulting in longer SC life...

Yes, without changing the pulley size.

The haltech gets your power in at 2k because it's not setup with the open loop close. The differences is 65TQ at 3krpms

This is an older dyno not with the current 56mm pulley

Thank you John. This is very helpful and useful information.

I might be over-simplifying a complex situation and asking too much, but it sure would be nice to have a chart with base 1320 S/C set-up (with all the basics needed) through the list of popular mods (Haltech ECU, larger injectors, each logical pulley size swap, headers, methanol injection?, etc.) and show the est. HP & Torque gains for each added mod. and perhaps an estimated mod. cost with pros/cons and make this a sticky...sure would help folks like me better decide how far they want to chase this speed rabbit.

    Many Thanks again!
