I'm obviously the new guy in the group, but have been browsing around the forum for some time - this is a great resource. I'm a new Tacoma owner after recently trading in my Sierra...and I've been extremely happy with my SR5 - it's been a wonderful truck.

A couple of observations as a new Tacoma owner...

    • I desperately wanted a manual transmission - that used to be a way to SAVE money...now we pay more for that feature? Before the Sierra, i had a 5-spd Accord...loved driving that.
    • With the "lower" trim level, I'm really happy to have body color fender flares - black used to be for lower trims (maybe just a Jeep thing - had a mid-90s XJ...terrible fading fenders)...interesting.
    • Also happy to have the "pre-runner" look with the 4X2...I loved the 2nd gen pre-runners - i guess they're all like that now.
    • Coming from a new Sierra - I really appreciate the simplicity of the Tacoma. No cylinder deactivation...no push-button parking brake. I'm actually glad to have a physical key. The countless "features" in the Sierra were a $$$ disaster waiting to happen.
    • The hood swap thread is a hoot! That scoop is just for looks, no?

I'm hoping to have this truck a long time!

Does anyone know where to find part numbers to discontinued OEM accessories? Looking to find 1 or 2 of these:

Where abouts are you? We have a really active group in the Alabama regional thread. We do meet ups, and trail rides, and mod days. Lots of folks in both the Birmingham and Huntsville areas.
