    Hey TacomaWorld--

New user here. I have a 2010 Tacoma extended cab with a SnugTop cap that came with the truck when I bought it used. The cap has been a bit of a lemon. I've had issues with the rear locking window, the forward (cab-adjacent) window, the locking mechanism, and leaking. I've ordered some parts from SnugTop and had limited success with repairs. I'm on the east coast, so visiting a SnugTop dealer is out of the question.

My question is this: is it worth it to repair what I have, or should I just spend that money towards another used cap without all the issues? SnugTop parts ain't cheap, and there seems to be decent volume of alternatives in the used market. Is this a "grass is always greener" scenario? Or are there more reliable caps out there that are affordable ($800ish)?

    Thanks.

I've got a '99 Taco that I put a Leer cap on it when I bought it in ~2003. It made it a lot of years before it started it's slow decline... unfortunately now it leaks like a sieve. I think I need to replace the bed seal and probably the window seals along with all of the locking hardware and latch mechanisms (mine are the simple latches on each side, not the center one that actuates both). I seem to remember camping trips where it would downpour and everything in the back was bone dry... now I make sure to stack stuff like sleeping bags/tents/backpacks off the floor of the bed.
